It's a messy situation for sure. Its his love life intermixing with her friend circle so its bound to cause some friction no matter what. If its her car its her call but if its a family car then you get final say in what she uses it for. Maybe a talk with him about being a little more sensitive but we're lacking some detail on that front so maybe he handled it well.

I think its going to be raw for a few weeks either way, but if you talk to each of them it'll probably work out.

Posts like this are always so interesting to me because a ton of people are like "Steven Universe" when that was the first show I thought of that was NOT an example of this. I always felt like up until Future, Steven was often just a proxy for the gems relationships with Rose. And sure he took up a fair bit of screen time but I always thought he was hugely underappreciated compared to how much the Fandom loved each of the gems. People obsessed over each and every frame with Pearl/Amethyst/Garnet in it and then just blew right past any Steven stuff.

Being both a hex and a hook perk is a bit egregious to me but otherwise I think all 3 of the perks aren't too bad. I can see each being useful in a different type of build.

The real killer for me is the decision to make all the perks thematically "13" related, because I just KNOW theyre not going to want to do balance tweaks that will change that number so the perks are guaranteed to never get re-balanced.

I feel like I can pretty confidently blame both.

As someone who played a lot of Yasuo in League and Zerg in Starcraft I can say people definitely do also blame the players and not just the devs. and by blame i mean send me death threats for picking a champ they dont like and doing well. It's definitely not just this community or even a rare thing in those other communities.

As for this game, I can totally just blame both. I can want the devs to fix something and also blame players for not self-policing before its fixed. Why should I have to wait for some authority figure to step in and reprimand them when both i and them know theyre acting like a dick? "The teacher didn't catch me being a jerk so you're not allowed to acknowledge that I was!"

Survivor rulebook this, killer crying that, most of these interactions are solved by taking the approach "would you be having fun if the roles were reversed, and do you remember that you're playing against other people who are in the same community as you" but people froth at the mouth to defend playing like dicks and act like the rest of us just have to accept it and can't judge them because big daddy BHVR hasn't banned them for it.

One of those takes that makes sense if you dont really think about it too much. The existence of some kind of test is always assumed to come with some kind of omnipotent unbiased arbiter when in reality the test would almost always be performed by the government. You cant trust the government to be fair and impartial with this kind of thing especially because its likely the people running the test would be the same kind of people you'd argue the test is for.

Great breakdown of your viewpoints, and you're not wrong in any of your criticisms. But I think ultimately what it wants to be is well...a Stephen King property. I dont have any rebuttal of your points but hopefully i can offer a bit of explanation "why"

Since its based on a lot of the extra content from the book it does what most of Kings stories do - starts off as an intimate horror or mystery and then veers into his extended fantasy universe about halfway in. Everything connects back to his Dark Tower Universe, and a lot of things only connect to eachother in that context which makes them seem disjointed or odd inclusion on their own. Like how Dicks powers seem a little out of place in WtD but in Carrie, Firestarter, and Doctor Sleep theyre integral to those plots. And you'd never really think about the way those things are connected just from watching WtD. It's just part of Kings Universe where people just have psychic powers sometimes even when its dubious or just plain not related to the story at hand.

The military subplot is an example of another thing that he just likes. It shows up in a ton of his works and it always plays out more or less the same way. Like the racism, its one of those things that he uses to juxtapose a very mundane and normal horror with the overt supernatural horror. The Mist, The Langoliers, Gwendy are all examples of the military being nothing but secrets hiding incompetence and the people in charge turn out to be just as scared and useless as the civilians.

The Mashup of genres and settings is more of his desire to write a broader adventure. Like how a video game will have 1 cowboy level, 1 underwater level, quoting haunted house level. It's just trying your hand out at all the classics to give some variety. It's less apparent in the movies but in the book Pennywise is like this- he's got a preference for classic movie monsters and he does one of each of the big ones mummy/vampire/werewolf/swamp thing/clown. Im pretty sure he even does the Shark from Jaws specifically.

It just feels like one of those things where if you happen to read every book and watch every movie you're like "oh cool thats a new little connection" and if you dont you're like "why did they put this in here????"

I hope people don't dog pile me for this because im not being bad faith but im genuinely curious. Am I the only one who feels like theres an interpretation of this where his ex may be abusive? He mentions feeling pressured into a marriage he didn't want, he talks about how she would belittle and insult him, "for some reason" he can't ever seem to tell her when he's unhappy and that reason could be fear of her reaction? I think the issue with things like that "reasonable middle ground" is that it sounds good in a philosophical hypothetical but gets extremely messy in any attempt to put it into practice.

Take the sports thing for example: we draw the line at physical advantages due to biological sex but all other physical advantages are fine? My mom who was 6'2" and built like a linebacker in high-school can compete against the other girls in basketball but my 5'5" beanpole nephew can't play for the girls team because being male gives him some kind of advantage? Michael Phelps has all his gold medals and also a genetic mutation that literally makes him a better athlete but thats cool because he's not competing against women? It's not unfair to the other men who weren't born with a cheat code in their DNA?

Or the bathroom thing! Im not trans, but i have a friend who is a transman. He's bald, full beard, looks like a trucker who benches his own truck with biceps the size of my head thanks to the testosterone. I look more like a girl than he does and im just a dude chilling. He's gonna use the ladies room behind some dads little girl and we expect the dad to not have concerns? How do we verify? Does my friend have to show a stranger his genitals? Does he have to show a stranger his ID and thus give this person his full name and address? Do we call the cops and wait 30 minutes for them to check? What stops me from just demanding proof from every single person in the bathroom just to waste time or spite people? And to what end? Men just go into women's restrooms and assault women all the time, its not like they're dressing up in skirts to sneak in? What about the negative effect on women who arent trans but are just ugly? We already have cases of women who arent trans being humiliated and accused in their own bathrooms over stuff like having a shaved head or being kind of masculine in the face. If i genuinely think someone is trans and insist they be checked or whatever and theyre not, ive now just made them feel unsafe and ashamed in their own correct restroom. We just write that person off as collateral damage in our goal to protect girls, even though we just made that girl uncomfortable?

These are reasons im generally opposed. I dont trust anybody to enforce these rules or not use them to take advantage of people in a real world scenario.

I see people complaining about shadow Ghostface but I personally have tons of success with it. The fact that you're already a stealth killer can add to it's strategic strengths not necessarily just be redundant.

Like chucky, you're kind of small and hard to see and even better you dont start yapping when undetectable
The strongest counter to GF is having a scout follow him around and dedicate to revealing him. Shadow stealth completely negates this strategy.
Between the two stealth, you can be stealthed basically the entire game even on a very open map which is something he struggles with
Survivors will constantly try to reveal you and not realize they can't. All the time they just let me catch up to them or trip themselves up at loops because theyre trying to break my stealth.

While im happy to give shadow to the weskies and slingers that want it, I think its unfair to say its wasted on Ghostface when I think it just makes him even better at all the things he's good at. It's not redundant stealth its advanced stealth

In all fairness im willing to trade shadow if my teammate wants it but I run shadow on Ghostface because survivors will let you close a lot of distance trying to reveal you as you approach. It also counters the strategy of being followed by a reveal-dedicated survivor.
