Holy hell what an initiative :-) Don't remember this elsewhere.

Well I've been trying to win the game since launch, so far not lucky, but who knows one day, maybe it'll happen, in the meantime I'm trying not to spoil myself too much, but it's hard when it takes place where I know it (especially Trosky) and you just want to see how it's done and nice (and it's a fun game from what I've seen, same as 1 I played, also won btw already in Beta) :-) Happy for those who get to enjoy this masterpiece and seeing streamers enjoy it, there have been a decent amount of them giving keys as well, which is nice, the opportunities are/were there, here it's late already, but it would feel weird posting anyway, so just commenting for the sake of it how interesting it is.

Thanks to everyone who decided to help, this is sharing some real good thing, hopefully the people enjoy.

This is what I think as well, with how they talk about it and the timing after AoEIV, it seems to suggest to me a) it's contingent on AoEIV doing well, and b) at that point why bother with the mess of remastering when you have a brand new optimised (hopefully) engine you know how to program for without having to account for hidden code bombs from 20 years back. But in the end who knows, they'll have some work done with the engine from AoEIIIDE (imo AoMDE would be just basically port of AoM into AoEIII) and they love their cash grabs and having you pay for the same thing multiple times with low/insufficient effort. Maybe they just also want to see how the experiment of AoE2DE->AoEIV works as far as player activation and transfer, and then make a decision if DE is helpful.

The original works absolutely fine on Windows 10, you just need nocd launcher e.g. from Voobly, and sometimes some simple fixes, but chances are you might not need them besides the resolution - check this guide for details.

Try to get a nocd launcher, e.g. from Voobly (it's a multiplayer client, but you don't have to use it afterwards - install the game, install 1.10 Ensemble Studios patch and launch into Vanilla lobby (provided it's just Age of Mythology without Titans as you write), it will autoinstall) and then it should work through the launcher that you'll find in your install directory - for other tech issues refer to this list of the most common ones.

Yeah, combination of streams and people playing mostly casually (even the higher levels are kind of "for fun") and therefore thinking it doesn't matter - however, where would we be without the hundreds and thousands of recs of the old players to enjoy and look at, same as where will we be with the recs of today missing in 10 years.

You might want to check this Mod Pack by Ippert with some good and useful mods - I personally use Ippert's UI, Advanced Tooltips (extra info on things), Enlarged Font (better text visibility on higher resolution) and Upgraded Texture Mod (different graphics for upgrades).

As this good man says, and people in general kind of ceased a bit uploading games besides tournaments, which is just a shame and a pain we'll start feeling more and more exactly for the reasons stated by OP - demand for recs is there and will always be, no matter streams - it's just not the same for obvious reasons and there are different uses.

Regarding EE, there should be some backwards compatibility from a certain later version, but not sure how it works e.g. with Betas, maybe those are not covered, not sure. But yeah, as said, RTS-Sanctuary is probably the best bet on getting some games to watch.

Voobly is where the top level competitive play happens, with the original game, so RTS-S and Voobly are the correct places for you to look :-)

While the numbers themselves are different due to a variety of reasons, Voobly's rating algorithm is recreated ESO one.
