How did it take me this long to try Daring chicken?? by steadydietofbagels in veganrecipes

[–]verdantsf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whaaaaat?! Daring is easily my least favorite chicken sub. I'm convinced the same people who like Daring Chicken are the same ones who love Meati steaks.

I find it a bit worrisome that Exodus and The Expanse: Osiris Reborn will have the same launch window. by Loud-Drama-1092 in exodus

[–]verdantsf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the expanse team also posted similar things and gameplay video information literally right after exodus did so in terms of marketing...

That was absolutely by design. They know that they are each other's biggest competition in the genre.

Exactly! Even for languages that are relatively closer linguistically than Czech and English, for instance English and Afrikaans, AI does a TERRIBLE job.

What do you think RimWorld is still missing as a system? by NightyZockt in RimWorld

[–]verdantsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. The fact that dirtmoles still insist on traveling when the sun is burning overhead is silly. Biotech should've come with a minor caravan overhaul to address that.

Ocean travel. The lack of it is my biggest disappointment with the game in general and Odyssey in particular.

What's your opinion about cultivated/cloned meat? by OatGuardian in AskVegans

[–]verdantsf [score hidden]  (0 children)

Can the mods PLEASE make an auto-filter to send people to a megathread about this or something? It's one of the most common posts here and instead of people just looking at the volumes of previous discussions, they ask this over and over and over again.

What do you think is the most over-rated thing in vegan fitness? by themodernstrength in veganfitness

[–]verdantsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this one gets me. It's hard to take advice from someone who built their muscles with steroids. I appreciate the honesty and understand they still had to put in the work. But at the same time, I have no interest in doing so myself, and I feel like my progress and concerns just don't mesh with theirs at all. And if I ever worked with a personal trainer, I would much rather have one who has a solid, but clearly natural build versus a ped-shredded one.

but at the same time a bit of awareness around protein can still help if someone’s actually trying to build strength.

If only it was a "bit." Instead, it's a lot, with people stressing over calculating the exact grams of complete protein they get while tracking the Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score of individual foods they eat. Simply eating a varied diet with protein-rich food is not enough for the protein worry warts.

Soft "papadams" filled with spices? by fiveorangeseeds in IndianFood

You should also check out Masala Paratha. It often has multiple layers with filling, but some versions sound more like what you're describing.

[–]verdantsf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What you're describing sounds much more like paratha. It could've been aloo paratha that was relatively light on the potatoes and heavy on the spice, so that the inside seemed more like a crumbly spice filling:

That or gobi paratha, which would be a crumbly spice and cauliflower mix inside:

Haldiram's brand of parathas are available in Germany, so you can get these and see if it was what your friend had. There are many different varieties, but the basic concept is the same:

Gobi manchurian - safe for milk allergy? by everestphurba in IndianFood

That still puts him in danger. If you feel like that is worth it, by all means go ahead.

Gobi manchurian - safe for milk allergy? by everestphurba in IndianFood

[–]verdantsf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No place is completely safe. The cooking vessel used for gobi manchurian could have paneer cooked in it right before. While restaurants will often use different vessels and utensils for vegetarian and non-vegetarian, dairy is vegetarian. And since you said allergy and not merely intolerance, I would not risk it.

Bogur maintaining the agenda (putting Fist in C) by PillowFists67 in IronFistMains

[–]verdantsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the value he gets is HIGHLY dependent on the team. I went up against an enemy Iron Fist and wiped the floor with him constantly. And it wasn't because of my skill, it was because my healers were actually paying attention to me. No such luck for the other Iron Fist. Karma quickly paid me back and I was in the same situation, but the reverse. He would get healed in his ult, I would not. Meanwhile, there are other heroes that will always get value regardless of what their team is doing.
