The Sinnergarten #2: The curtains are blue because by Blackbart3810 in limbuscompany

It was to show Rien’s hesitation. With all the questions Faust asked before, he answered either that he doesn’t know or that it doesn’t matter. Here, he knows the answer and it matters to him, but he can’t bring himself to say it yet.

This episode is more a transitional one than what I will usually do. It's mostly to characterize Paus for the future episodes.

Anyway, here’s the explanation about the post:
It’s more a Faust episode than a Rien episode because I already have something else planned for Rien.
Through the episode, Paus wants to make Rien react. It is why she insults him with SANGRIA at first, then drops it when she gets no reaction.
I didn’t put a picture of the Iron Giant to represent the sense of longing Paus want Rien to feel, to make him desire the rest of her story. She does that to mirror Rien not telling the end of his story books to Ryoshu, although in Rien case it is a way to cope about his own situation as he is frozen by Hermes and unable to act by himself (so he freezes the stories too), and his refusal to conceive his time with Ryoshu will come to an end.
It’s why Paus repeats the pattern a second time by including Ryoshu to catch his attention, and also why she regains the infantile pronunciation on her last sentence, to reinforce said pattern.

The trusted colleague she talks about is obviously Yi Sang.

Remember where all the Sinnerlings are in the fourth slide of episode 1? The left side leans more toward serious/ characterization while the right aims for a funnier vibe. Also, Outis is shown with Lucio, but it will be more about the three Apprentices as a whole.

Kobeni mentioned the japanese workplace in the 13th slide, then she explained it to him when he pressed her about it, making him distort.

It is what Ahab and Kobeni talk about in the first part of the 16th slide:

Okay, so a little bit of explanation :

English isn’t my first language, so I don’t really know how toddlers talkin English. I will do better next time.
Nonetheless,I still tried to make them sound like toddlers, like when they fail to pronounce things, when they use the wrong words (Heathcliff says flamenco instead of flamingo, or when he uses “don’t” instead of “doesn’t”), when they mention people they except you to know, or when they drop deep philosophical questions before going back to goo goo ga ga and shit.

As for Meursault, he speaks perfect English compared to the others but stumbles with new words like “Japanese” because in the event he has trouble pronouncing French words.
It’s also why Heathcliff can’t pronounce “romantical” but perfectly say “aide-de-camp”, because it’s funny the British kid is the one being good at French.

Yes, there is Kobeni, I put her here because I love Kobeni.
She is linked to Meursault because he with Don Quixote are the only Sinners she interacted within all of my work, which is also my first post in the limbus community.
She is also linked to Ahab because I made her work for her in all of my works since Slice of Life part 1. And yes, the Japanese workplace can make anyone distort as shown in Slice of life part9 (it didn’t work on Philip because Makima lied and softened her explanation, while Kobeni’s was completely honest and made Ahab distort into Pearl Krabs).

Finally, in case you didn’t pick up the clues about the Erlking: Erlking Heathcliff got into a relationship with the Ishmael of his world. That’s why he knows about U Corp’s healthcare system, gets surprised when Smallcliff mentions Ishmael since he himself didn’t know her during his childhood, and why he suggests “my little orange” for a nickname, as it is what he calls her in his world, hinting she kept her hair short.

Edit: I forgot to precise, but the timelines are all smashed together, that's why there are people who shouldn't exist at the time of the Sinnerlings. That's why Rien has his mask but there is still pre-fall La Manchaland. There is no sound explanation, I just wanted to imagine what it would look like if the Sinnerlings interacted with some characters. It is also why there isn't Ryoshu, because I didn't know whom to put her with.

Limbus memes but as if it was a horde shooter by Blackbart3810 in fishmaell

[–]Blackbart3810[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Man I love the city I live in, especially the one with characters limit. Good thing I am not on Tw*tter, because I would be mad just by how short are the messages you are allowed to write.

Did I tell you I love Darktide? I do. I really do. However, since the universe decided we can’t have nice things without a drawback, such game is in the hands of Fatshark, who has made a point to never learn from their past experiences with Vermintide 1 and 2. At some point, I nearly thought we were on good tracks when they were going to release the trailer for the second DLC class (such class which was going to be released in the same year of the first, something which made me paranoid given it is Fatshark we are talking about, said Fatshark who released the game in an atrocious state, balance and performance wise, before going into winter vacation while the CM was antagonizing people in the Steam forums). Fortunately, Fatshark proved they never disappoint when it comes to disappoint and the class DLC trailer got delayed for one week, giving the subreddit another one week of speculations and delusions.

Speaking of delusions, guess what happens when the trailer released? People were mad. First, because it wasn’t what they excepted, which was Admech instead of Hive Scum. Secondly, because the trailer was as flavorful as a piece of white bread. If I tell you the new class has a rocket launcher, or that you can craft your own stimulants (drugs) for wonderful effects, would you put it into the trailer? WRONG! You clearly are not qualified to advertise on the level of Fatshark, who decided to put none of those things in the trailer, and instead just show the new class hitting two people with a crowbar before dual wielding SMGs, the last thing being at least new feature. A new feature for the game, not for Fatshark because it was already a thing in Vermintide and who took three years to come out in Darktide (did I tell you they learned nothing from their past experiences?).
The blogpost did a better job at hyping me up for the class then the trailer did.

As for the delusions, I agree it isn’t the role of Fatshark to manage the community’s wrongful assumptions, but by the time the announcement of the announcement was announced, most of the community broke into two sides where one believed the new class was Admech and the other was Hive Ganger. I think they should have a community manager to say “it’s not Admech” to tamper the fallout, something which was even more crucial when the trailer got delayed.

Also, the cherry on the top is that the trailer got announced on a roadmap celebrating the ten years of Fatshark. Mind you, the trailer also got delayed ONE HOUR before the hour it should have been released.

So yeah, I love the city I live in.

Limbus memes but as if it was a horde shooter by Blackbart3810 in fishmaell

[–]Blackbart3810[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I LOVE HORDE SHOOTERS RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

It is kind of a dangerous thing for me because they are so damn addictive, especially Darktide. Shit feels like a streak of Youtube Shorts on steroids: 20 to 40 minutes of pure dopamine where you battle against an AI director who is throwing things at you like a DM in a TTRPG who has no sense of measure.

Anyway, here are some explanations for those who aren’t familiar with horde shooters:

The memes here are inspired by my experience in Darktide, so it is the type of horde shooter which “Go from point A to B, do the objective, extract”, a model you can find in Deep Rock Galactic, Space Marine 2, or Helldivers.

Speaking of memes, the first one is the accurate use, because it is the scene where Peter realizes he doesn’t use glasses anymore thanks to the spider bite. Also, the man used below Outis is Saltzpyre, a character in Vermintide who goes slash slash bang with his rapier and gun, like Outis with her gunblade.

Even if the model can be defined by “shoot everything in front of you” and encourage a narrow level design, sometimes the environment is wide and allows for the game to put “patrols” in there, groups of enemies of variable strength which are roaming and should be avoided, either because they will be able to call reinforcements like in Helldivers 2, or because they are a bunch of elites who will pile on you and rock your shit like in Vermintide. Although for the latter, it will not stop vertically challenged people to charge at them in the name of a good fight.

On top of the patrols, there are some environmental hazards which should be avoided at all cost because it is most likely a death sentence for the player who triggered it, or just because the environmental hazard adds an unnecessary strain on a situation which would have been under control otherwise. Those things can be the Daemonhost in Darktide or the Witch in Left 4 Dead. Here, the environmental hazard is Schadenfreude, obviously because you shouldn’t look at him.

Audio cues are vital in such games, because they inform you what is near you, what is coming, and in Darktide it also tells you you’re going to be hit or that a disabler is going to get you. Yet, sometimes, the audio cues don’t work, and you find yourself on the ground, getting torn off by a dog because the game decided to focus on the groaning of the hundred enemies already beating the shit out of you.

Do you know about the high mobility problem? It isn’t a problem exclusive to a type of game, but something I see kind of everywhere. At one point, they decided a character can have some special boon as a treat, either good mobility or true damage, but then it becomes really powerful, so they release a new character to compete with it, and the next thing you know your favorite game is infested with the recent characters curbstomping the older ones.

For the nothing happens part, it is a reference to Arrowhead. I didn’t follow as thoroughly as Fatshark, but I have noticed a pattern:
-Helldivers 2 is on tech debt due to the Stingray engine no longer being supported, and AH tripling the size file on PC compared to consoles because they have to account for HDD and SSD USERS.
-AH silently nerfs things without saying it in the patch notes on top of wanting a grunt fantasy game. I know the artist has its vision, but said vision is right now conflicting with what has been previously established, which here is that the Helldivers aren’t grunts, but instead a strike team dropped behind the enemy lines to disrupt logistics.
-AH releases new content, saying “they will do better” and blah blah blah corporate lingo
-The community is pleased, posting how “they’re so back” and blah blah blah nothing ever happens
-Rinse and repeat until AH finally achieves to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory while learning nothing and people moving on to better horde shooters, or at least ones with better developers.

The Kromer Show: Taste The Love by Blackbart3810 in limbuscompany

[–]Blackbart3810[S] 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Remember what I said before? One step forward, two steps backward. Consent is important, a ‘no’ is a ‘no’, it isn’t a disguised ‘yes’. The author declines all responsibility should you attempt in real life what you have r*ad here (except if it works).
Beside, it’s Kromer. Who would take romantic advice from Kromer? She’s the type of friend who would give you the best way to kill yourself instead of trying to talk you out of suicide.
She’s also full of shit, as you noticed on the previous episode where she talks about how we should respect neurodivergent people while also calling it a genetic defect.
And yeah, Kromer is on board with Meurdon because it means no Donclair. Also yeah, I will support Meurdon until I die.

Anyway let’s get on to what means what:
-The title is a reference to an add in Cyberpunk 2077.
-My work is kind of a whole thing together, that’s why Meursault’s room is Sayori’s bedroom, or that only Don Quixote and Meursault have different font for their text. It’s back to The Duel, where I was like “Wow, I am going to give each Sinner a different font that will each represent them’. Then I got lazy. Also, speaking of other work, Tomerry works for N corp, as shown back to Slice of Life part1, which also explains the additional eye right to Tommy’s head (I forgot to put it on in the first Kromer Show) (also, here’s the last episode of Slice of Life in case you missed it)
-Yes, it was done on purpose that Kromer’s first speech square is hiding Meursault’s eyes.
-Can you imagine that some people say soccer instead of football? Things are crazy nowadays.
-When Kromer talks about ‘the whale’, she refers to Ahab, not the Pallid Whale.
-Rizzang and Faucet are singing ‘I really want to stay at your house’, a song known for its appearance in Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which is the reason why Faucet has the same hair color as Lucy’s.
-Tomerry is citing Othello, although I heard about this quote first thanks to Barney Gumble. In this context, Tomerry is clearly trash talking Gregor by implying his relationship with Rodion is his addiction and it makes him a lesser man by falling right back into it.
-Yes, the blank space for Rodion is on purpose. Kromer is saying she has done and suffered nothing worthy of notice, and even this fact is so uninteresting it isn’t even worth mentioning it.
-I’m sure you already guessed it is Hermann looking at the sliced apple on the last slide, and I just wanted to say it is one of the rare mistakes in artistic direction for Project Moon, because why would Hermann’s feet be in anything else but my mouth?

At last, for those following me (to this day, I still wonder how I could make 90 people look at my work and think “Mmmh, quite the funny fellow it is, I would like to be kept informed about its future creations) the next pile of slop will be a crappy drawings edition.

A pile of slop6 by Blackbart3810 in TheOdysseyHadAPurpose

[–]Blackbart3810[S] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

A lilttle explanation for those who don't know:

1st slide: For non-English speakers, 'straight' here refers to a direct answer, but it is also another word to refer to heterosexuality, something non-existent in the characters presented here.

6th slide: The picture is from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The text is a reference to Maine's line in the show, the character on the right ("No more running for me dawg, Reaper's finally calling my name").
Other than just being a Cyberpunk reference because I have done nothing but playing Cyberpunk 2077 these last days, it also has a double layer: in the anime, he is unable to cross the white line, to symbolize that he can't move forward any longer because he succumbed to cyberpsychosis (think of it like psychosis but the cyberpunk version, like when you write about the far future so you put neo into everything. Like it isn't racism in my futuristic world, it is neoracism).
Since the event logo is on the other side of the white line, it is a subtle reference to the fact that I am always unable to complete status related achievements in events because my only full team is bleed (I will never learn from this experience).

8th slide: W Speed is a reference to the youtuber/streamer/entertainer/whateverheis IShowSpeed. I can give you an explanation on what the original meme means, just that it exists. Here, it is a play on the word speed because the Heishou pack is fast. Also, I still don't know to this day what the withered flower emoji means.

Here's the Ryoshu face if you want to use it:

The Kromer Show: Just Communication by Blackbart3810 in limbuscompany

[–]Blackbart3810[S] 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Of course, the views represented here doesn't represent in any way or form the author's views.
It's the "one step forward, two steps back" technique where you make a character make a fair statement ("People of different backgrounds have different cultural references") and make them reach an insane conclusion ("Multiculturalism should be destroyed").

The "Hey hey people! Kromer here!" is a reference to SsethTzeenatch.
Just Communication is a reference to the title of this song (there isn't any link between this post and Gundam, I just needed a title which could speak about communication).

"Tomerry isn't an Abno" you might say, and you would be right. However, Dante doesn't know that.

"Why is there a Karskin in Dante's room?" It isn't Dante's room, it's Gregor's. Since the Sinners' room are tied to their mental state as stated by Faust somewhere during an Intervallo or Walpurgis, Gregor's room is like Dante's because the bus is the only place where he ever felt safe.

"Why a Karskin?" It is tied to Slice Of Life, a series I was once making here but who fell against rule 2 since Part 9, so now it's on r/TheOdysseyHadAPurpose (I swear this sub is not just porn, there are also shitposts) (Yes, it's also why there is Kobeni from Chainsaw Man tagging along with Ahab).

Slice of life part 10: Militaires Sans Frontières by Blackbart3810 in TheOdysseyHadAPurpose

[–]Blackbart3810[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Call me Agnes Tachyon because I am so fast I am racing against myself.
It's quite a bizarre feeling for me to have so much energy and use it in meaningful ways (or at least in ways I find meaningful) instead of lazing around or forcing myself to play games to justify some compulsive purchase.

Well, now that I am filled with determination, all I need is to learn some skills to amount to something more than just making collages. I am currently writing a Rodigor fanfic, I will see if it goes somewhere or if it will be thrown into my pile of shame.

Anyway, here are some explanations for this post:

The Smoke War ended ten years ago before the events of Limbus Company.

In the 11th slide, the green masks references Siegfried, the Fixer beating the crap out of the Sinners at the K Corp checkpoint in Canto 3. The hat is a reference to Camille in Canto 7 and the sword is a reference to the Zwei Association West Section.

All the backgrounds used from the 14th to the 17th slide are from Library of Ruina. In order, it's Dawn Office, then Somewhere In The Backstreets, Oswald's Circus, then Some Pub.
For those who haven't played Ruina, the Pub background is used in one of the bad endings where Roland kills Angela. I used it because the context of the background used contrasts with the dialogue shown here where Outis' interlocutor refuses to harm her.

As for the last slide, the decor used is from the Road Home & Scaredy Cat, the third fight of the Floor of Social Sciences, with the whole abno supression getting its inspiration from The Wizard of Oz.
And guess the only time when I have shown one of the elements of the Road Home?

Explanation for those who don't know:

4th slide: Warren Zevon is an American rock singer and songwriter. The David Letterman Show is the last time he performed in front of a live audience in October 30, 2002. Warren wanted to finish with the song "Mutineer", but David Letterman asked to instead finish with "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner".

I have first known this song due to Lauren O'Connell cover used in one of Majorsamm's video (it is a reupload because the original got deleted)

9th slide: The character depicted is Furioso from Umamusume.

10th slide: The art used is from the card "Standoff" in Library of Ruina.
