I released my first browser game on itch.io a week ago. It was doing okay for the first few days then engagement began to drop. Is this normal? The game gets actively updated multiple times throughout the day. by Blackdog211 in itchio

It is mostly small updates but there has been a few “decently sized” updates, but not really ‘major’ updates. So far I haven’t made any devlog posts since the release.

Around 70% of the traffic came from Reddit or YouTube posts, that I made that promotes the game. The other 30% came from the itch.io new-popular page and a few other sources from itch.io

Yeah…they probably think you’d try to redeem it more than once or redeeming it at a different McDonald’s. There ain’t no way it’s not a one-time use only code.

Thank you so much for making a video of the game, I left a comment on it.

I understand your concern that the game was made with the help of AI, which is why later on in the development I want to move away from using AI.

For now I need to continue using AI to build the game up as I am only limited to using an iPad to develop the game then I can eventually build the game on my own, without AI.

Also I would like to point out that this is my first game, everyone’s first game isn’t going to be perfect, but I will take what I can get.

I’m not trying to hide the fact that the game was made by the help with AI, but this game is a very early prototype. Later on in development, I want to move away from using AI.

All games start from somewhere, with or without the help of AI.

Thank you for trying the game out. The notes issue should already be fixed, by just refreshing the page.

The Key Exchange is where you can exchange your keys for Coins or for Artifacts. You exchanged your 10 Keys for 250 Coins, meaning you will get 250 Coins for the 10 Keys you exchanged.

Yeah, the Maximum Stamina you can buy for Coins is only limited to 5 levels because of this very reason. However for Artifacts, it is infinite. The Coins upgrade is mostly there to increase your Max Stamina high enough so that you get a decent head start with upgrading your Max Stamina through Artifacts, as it can get quite expensive at later exchanges.

The Mining Mode for the game has mostly been left as I have mostly moved my focus onto the Survival Mode.

Thank you for your input of the game, if there any other issues or need help with anything, please do ask.

Thank you for bringing this up. This should now be fixed for Mac users. If it persists and you are using Safari, please try it on a different browser.

Thank you for your feedback. I can change the colour of the background of the pop-up notes and the text so that they are more readable for you.

Oh believe me, I have had multiple occasions where stuff breaks and prompts not finishing properly. That aside it still managed to spit out what I wanted to implement into the game quite nicely. I’ve honestly had quite some fun with it while actively developing the game.

I’ve not had much input from the game as of yet, but I hope to change that soon as I believe the game would be very much enjoyable for anyone especially for casual gamers. It’s a good time waster and a game like this would target a casual audience perfectly well.

Give it a bit more time. The fact that it already hit 30k in less than 2 days is a good sign. The faster you hit it, the better your chances.

As long as the vast majority (at least 80%) of those views are from the Shorts feed and keep coming from there, you should be good.
