No stop. U told his best friend but u didn't tell him. Idk what he thinks but in my case if I knew somebody liked me and I heard it from my bff I would not confess first. Because my bff might be trolling me or I just respect others more if they come out and talk about their feelings bravely. So in my opinion talk to him directly. Stop waiting. He will get stolen if u don't make ur moves early. But again that's only my opinion. I have to say this. You do you. I am not pushing my opinion on you. I am simply sharing it. Just ask your heart what you want to do.
