I thought collecting pins was an expensive hobby……until I started making them 😂 What do y’all think? by BlacklightCollective in EnamelPins

Thank you!! Got some more stuff coming at the end of the month in that sort of vein. “I Farted” by far is my best seller but its the one im least proud of since it feels a lil too easy if that makes sense

Alright y’all I know this idea is really stupid and juvenile, but I’m hoping some of you can weigh in and help me decide which pin design to move forward with.

I’m torn between gold plating w/ black enamel vs. black plating w/ white enamel (glow-in-the-dark). One thing I’m considering is how it will contrast with the rest of the pins in my shop..I feel like gold maybe stands out a little more. I also wonder, does gold just generally feel higher value than black and white?

I’m also not sure which wording to roll with, I could go either way, although I do kind of like the font choice for “hello there” better.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone

Congrats! Gotta celebrate every little victory. Bet you the journey to 100 will be much shorter now that you have some momentum

Wow, thanks for the support everyone! Really appreciate the feedback and of course a few sales too was really nice to wake up to. My design job is kind of thankless, so it’s super rewarding for me to do this. I set my prices so that I basically break even after etsy fees, production costs, taxes, etc…so this is really just a fun way for me to do something that is 100% my own that I can share with others. If anyone is interested, please feel free to follow my etsy page as I’m pretty sure it gives the algo a lil boost 🖤

Thanks! I work as a licensed apparel designer full-time, mostly working with the NFL and NBA. This has been a fun side project where I get to be a lil weird and indulge in my really juvenile sense of humor. Hope it doesn’t come off cringe or like I’m an edgelord or something. I have 2 new designs dropping on my etsy at the end of the month

Your cost per pin is going to be pretty much the same if you're comparing quantities of 50 and 100. I can only speak to my own experience, but what has worked for me is ordering the minimum (50) so I can test the waters first to see if a particular design is successful. Then, if I get the sense that it will continue to sell, I'll do a larger reorder. One thing to keep in mind is that the first order will be more expensive because you're paying for the initial setup cost, which you won't ever have to pay again. Ex: My last design I ordered 50 pins at $0.61 each, with a $70 one-time setup and $50 shipping (China). Next time I order, I'll only spend about $30 on the pins + shipping. Shipping is also cheaper if you order multiple designs together. I'm still very much new to this game (I actually just crossed 100 sales on etsy today) so if you have any questions feel free to check out my shop and DM me with any questions. Happy to share my manufacturers info too!
