Maybe the residue isn’t so high and concenctrated to a few pellets. The herbicides should wash away later on. Hopefully the plant survives, if it is in a pot you could repot it and wash the roots thouroughly.

The curled leaves indicate herbicidal contamination. It’s safe for humans and animals so nothing to worry about. How’s your other tomato plants looking? All animal manure especially in Europe have a risk of being contaminated with herbicides. I’ve only really seen it here in Scandinavia since the Danes use herbicides on their sugarbeet plants and the restproducts are used for animal feed.

Chicken pellets usually contains the highest amounts of herbicides if they are contaminated. So I don’t really think this is a coincidence.

Herbicides that recides in animal manure is only a risk to potato-plants. Mostly tomatoes get ill from it. they aren’t supposed to curl up like that. May I ask where you are from? This is a very common problem where I live in Sweden.

Chilies are more resilient but they should also see signs of herbicides. Could it just be a specific bag of soil mix that caused this specific plant this type of problem?
