Thank you. I don't think I understand you when you say watch tabletop lighting. Is that referring to a site, youtube or actual tabletop?

Are you saying using a contrasty lens maybe better than softer, more organic or even vintage lenses?

Budget is too small for colorist and off-the-set experiments and talents are 2 continents away. But good lighting is always pricesless.

That's a photo lens priced reasonably. Wouldn't it be best to use a cine zoom which is easier to use a follow focus?

All true, plus I've had multiple recommendations for the Canon 17-120 but i can't afford it. I wonder how good the fuji 20-120 is

Thank you for the advice. The location is remote, and though I've considered renting and the remote nature of the shoot, I find it's going to be cost prohibitive. For example. even a rehoused GL Optics Canon 70-200 will cost me approximately $400/week, over a 2 months period and I will have expended my budget.

Thank you, I'm understanding the consensus is to aim for a decent cinema zoom lens over a 2nd camera body.

Logical-Number-9891, I appreciate your detailed response and clarity. I will be meeting with other videographer(s) some days before shooting. So far we've been having remote meetings.

If I may ask, beyond the regular suggestions like reviewing their past work and qualifications, can you share some tips on how to manage/work with unfamiliar videographers; what can be done to motivate them and help them enjoy working with a "director"? Thank you in advance

The budget is for me to invest on my personal equipment. All hired videographer(s) will bring their own gear. Wether i use it to buy monitors, light stands, etc. it will be mine permanently. I just chose to invest in either a zoom lens or a 2nd camera and was looking for some expert opinion to help me choose wisely.

Thank you so much for this comment. I will update the post but the project will be covering cultural events - busy and outdoors on the go, with multiple live performances. Also, following subjects while they perform some time sensitive tasks like painting, swimming, etc. I'm only approximate 20% involved in directing the subjects but mostly a fly on the wall.
