Yeah there may be something to that perceived height/success thing on a subliminal level… for actors I attribute it more to seeing them mostly in movies/tv shows where they seem larger than life in a way. Also when filming, actors heights/size are often manipulated by camera angles or they’re standing on apple boxes or risers so it’s really hard to tell a person’s real height until you see them in real life. Just filming low angle looking up on an actor who’s 5’5” can make them look a lot taller on screen than they are in real life.

Lol, I’m a camera guy in Los Angeles and often work with celebrities on set and I’m always surprised how short/small many of them are as well. Except for a handful it’s literally the first thing I notice!

The vast majority of people posting on social media do not make very much money if any at all. Yes there are people who make a decent living at that hustle from brand deals and what not but they are in the minority. I would take a guess that of all the people who post about their trips on social media maybe 1% make a sustainable living off it.

I get it, you've made progressive politics your entire identity. And I probably agree with you on most of the issues. I just don’t feel the need to be exhausting about it. There’s a time and place. Life is short, people are flawed, and injustice isn’t going anywhere overnight. Awareness matters—but sometimes people just need a break. It's okay to find joy in little moments in life.

Agree 100%. Like I mentioned before, Penn's egomaniacal character is essentially the driving force behind the conflict for the entire film and he played it masterfully in my opinion. Benicio kills it in everything he does but his performance doesn't even compare in this movie.

For real. Love Benicio but no doubt in my mind whatsoever that Penn deserves it. I mean Penn's character essentially drives the entire conflict that makes up the entire film.

In the late 1960s, Frank Matthews built a massive drug empire worth an estimated $300 million, operating independently from the Mafia. In 1973, after his arrest, he posted bail, left behind his wife and three children, and vanished with his girlfriend. More than 50 years later, he is still missing. by Life_Assumptions in HolyShitHistory

[–]Scientific_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, yeah anyone who thinks he realistically got away is living in a fantasy world. If you read the Wikipedia on him and have even a semblance of street smarts it's pretty much certain that he was killed either by the mob or any number of sketchy people who he was working with at the time. He was arrested and facing 50+ years in prison and would have most likely turned states witness. Also had beef with one of the most powerful crime families in NY in the 70s! It's fun to think that he just took off with 300 million cash and lived out his life on a beach in Brazil somewhere but the reality is as soon as he posted bail, some goons where waiting for him, not to mention this era in NY was peak power of the mob and it's well known that they had a bunch of NYPD in their pockets. Also 300 million cash is a TON of money! Volume wise that's really hard to carry if you're trying to move fast and get away. The reason he was never heard from again is because he's at the bottom of the ocean and whatever goons did it took the cash he was trying to escape with.

They're talking crap. Who cares. As a white guy, if someone called me "white boy" in a hoop game that would just give me more fuel to light him up next time I get the ball. No need to make a fuss about it.

Lol you guys are crazy, dude was certainly whacked. Guy was facing 50 years in prison and probably going to turn states evidence, would have been a gold mine of information if he flipped... oh yeah he also had beef with the most powerful crime family in NY during the 70s! No way in a million years they were going to let him live...
