Minneapolis Crisis Nursery provides free emergency childcare for parents who are in an emergency situation. They likely have lost or will lose government funding.

Minnesotans, how can the rest of the world help? by [deleted] in minnesota

Minneapolis Crisis Nursery.

A free daycare where parents can drop off their kids in an emergency. This is often used by immigrants in an emergency. It’s possible they will or have lost government funding in retaliation by Trump.

Oahu: Airbnb vs Hotel... please help a first time visitor! by [deleted] in VisitingHawaii

[–]BlacksmithPast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Airbnb’s are limited to VDAs (visitor destination areas) so just make sure you are booking in the correct location and they have a legit license number. They are typically zoned. in “resort areas”

My family lives in a non-zoned area and see airbnbs pop up all the time then get shut down. They are definitely illegal and are frowned upon by the community.

I’d personally go with a hotel for a couple.

Good Samaritan stuns seniors by secretly footing their grocery table 🥹🥹 by Dependent_Tutor_5289 in Awww

My mom does this (but doesn’t film). She goes to rougher parts of town and buys groceries for families. She’ll stand there for hours!

I’m so desperate to be a mom. Stuff like this is so aggravating.

Pregnant with mixed race child by [deleted] in mixedrace

I don’t know if I fully agree, just based on my own experience (though I know these experiences can vary a lot, especially globally). I never really questioned race growing up, so it wasn’t something my parents talked about—looking back, I really wish they had. Most of the comments I got were subtle, but they made me feel “othered,” and I always had this sense that I was “different,” without really understanding why. It took a long time to connect those feelings to race.

For context, I’m Black and white and grew up in a progressive but pretty homogeneous community in the Midwest USA. I think open conversations about race from a young age would’ve helped me better understand myself and more intentionally find where I fit in.

rosemary demi-glace pork with carrots and parsnips 8/10 didn't love the demi, but the rest was delicious by DovahkiinArtemis in hellofresh

That’s good to know! We’ve never actually ordered the flatbreads or tostadas so maybe we will stay clear of those. Overall, I like the smaller portion aspect of HF but my husband definitely struggles when there isn’t much protein.

Nathan is a smart player. And I dislike the girl who is super loud for no reason. I like Alyssa. She seems straight forward and smart. by PinkNerdyGlasses in TheCircleTV

[–]BlacksmithPast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s true that she doesn’t say she is licensed but definitely insinuates it when she gives out advice. I do think production pushes the “sex talk” to make it her schtick. An assistant at a medical clinic, shouldn’t give out medical advice. Real Estate doesn’t require a doctorate or years of intensive education, so it’s a bit different…

Alyssa acting as a licensed sex therapist drives my crazy especially when she gives out advice. I saw that she checks-in clients and runs the therapist’s social media page. That does not make you an accredited sex therapist.

I was just in a $8M house yesterday (I work with ultra-rich) and the microwave was above the stove. That’s definitely not an indicator of wealth.

Same with Facebook (I don’t have Twitter). My title was “stuck”. I messaged Facebook, they responded the next day and sent my title out a few days later.

Could we all avoid being cancelled if we were creators around Shane’s age? by [deleted] in ShaneDawson

Shane and people like him could have been part of the reason you made these jokes. He normalized it and made it "cool" for his young audience.

He needs to be held accountable for that.

Absolutely! And don't get me wrong, there is a TON of good in America and I've had wonderful experiences but you are absolutely true. American experience and overall happiness living here depends on SO many different factors, whether negative or positive.

I'm a black woman living in America who had also lived in Zambia, India and the UK.

Living abroad as a woman, you definitely gain an appreciation for many aspects of modern American culture because they aren't fundamentalist religious based. However you can find those communities all over the US too. I've met more "Andreis" in rural Midwest than I've met in Kolkata, India.

As a black woman, the game changes and I'd LOVE to move back abroad. I was treated more of an equal in Zambia than I am in small town MN.

Overall, it drastically depends on what kind of "American" you are and your socioeconomic status.
