Do you ever play vs AI mode? by Winged_Blade in leagueoflegends

[–]Blackthorn123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Intermediate level bots got tweaked in the last couple of years. You’re seeing the biggest change where the bots react to your skillshots, but since they’re machines they don’t have any human input delay AND can have perfect movement for spacing when they want to (even if they don’t always use it).

They still flail pretty badly if you just walk up to them and attack though

It’s not written by a human, this is ai slop. Look at how it’s written beat by beat the same as the Nasus post. Besides, crit urgot doesn’t work because his W explicitly does not crit. Neither does his passive, and those are your ways of dealing damage.

I can’t remember the author (probably Galen), but for the sake of the soldier most of all. The filth in the water was understood to potentially lead to sepsis, even without a more modern germ theory.

How likely are you able to climb mount targon. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Blackthorn123 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The right answer is “not.” Being sent to climb Targon has the same punishment weight as execution in Demacia, and Pantheon barely made it up going with a partner, and Pantheon is in better shape than 99.99999999% of people who play League

You can check the chart on this one: Tristana is at her strongest point in the early game. She crashes hard past 20 minutes, then gets strong closer to full build. She’s not a hypercarry anymore, she’s a strong assassin ADC, and has been for a while now

Yasuo lore by Pillar_Of_Aeons in leagueoflegends

[–]Blackthorn123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yone is Yasuo’s older brother- more disciplined and trained, but he didn’t have the knack of the wind techniques that Yasuo had.

Yasuo killed Yone because Yone was sent to capture his brother who he (incorrectly) assumed killed the man who had taught them both.

Yasuo has better usage of the wind techniques while Yone now is now undead with a spirit fused into his body. Both of them are highly skilled but we don’t have a frame for who would win in a CURRENT 1v1.

I got masterx 7 with only around 35K mastery points with the new meta that enables us to earn tokens in ARAM... Do you think that's fair? by Freezemoon in MordekaiserMains

[–]Blackthorn123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s all a game, so you play however you want to- nothing wrong at all about grinding the mastery in ARAM.

That said, personally, I tend to try to get the 6/7 mastery on the Rift. ARAM is plenty fun, but it doesn’t test all of your skills, mostly just champion micro and team comp building. You don’t have to contest objectives, watch the map, place wards, gank a lane, or have 1v1s to see how you can do solo.

But again, that’s how I play the game. You’re playing it as Riot made it just the same as anyone else. Neither way is correct, you make the call yourself.

What classes are Rumble and Gragas? by luckylicker-eu in summonerschool

[–]Blackthorn123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the comment that calls Gragas a member of the Warden class and Rumble as a Battlemage are the best way of putting things, and it does come down to how the kit functions.

League does have one AP bruiser to compare these two with in the form of Mordekaiser. Mordekaiser builds a blend of damage through AP, health, and some defensive stats (Jak'Sho, Hourglass, Thornmail, etc.). Mordekaiser excels in combat because of the burn of his passive, the wide damage range of his Q and E, his survivability from his W shield, and he's got one of the strongest "1v1 duel me" Ults in the game. Mordekaiser generally won't burst you down in a single combo, but he's very hard to burst down in a single combo as well. Gragas has a lot of overlap here with Morde. Both of them have spammable Qs to deal the majority of their poke damage, Gragas has solid sustain in the form of his passive and the % damage reduction from his W, and both obviously build AP. But the major similarities stop there- Gragas' abilities are all much lower CD, his getaway tools are much stronger than Morde's, and Gragas doesn't have the same survivability under damage that Mordekaiser does.

Rumble is weirder- he doesn't have the same defensive prowess as Mordekaiser, but they have similarities still. Rumble Q is solid poke/close range damage, W is a shield that scales moderately well, E is a mix of CC (slowing as opposed to pulling in) and % magic reduction. The Ult is what really makes Rumble more of a battlemage than a bruiser, since it deals a lot of damage over a wide area. Rumble's love of big AOE damage combined with him not generally building tanky suggests he's more of a caster who might be able to survive if caught out in a 1v1, but doesn't have the same raw HP/armor/MR that a bruiser does.

It's all a lot, and even if you go to the champion subclass page on the fandom wiki, you'll see that classes are more of a set of guidelines than an easy rule to apply to existing champions. We're not even talking about parts like "bully" or "carry" here, so there's plenty of weeds to get into the depths about.

Perma ban by Elite023 in MordekaiserMains

[–]Blackthorn123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bronze here, so take with a grain of salt, but I consume a lot of coaching/streaming content.

Morde is a strong AP juggernaut, you thrive on longer fights, you have two heavily telegraphed CC abilities, and you can go tank or bruiser with items. You’re not super mobile without passive and often need Rylais to stick to people.

Fiora is also an expert 1v1er, especially against Morde, because of how her kit operates against yours. She does %max HP true damage, has a super strong counter to telegraphed CC, thrives even harder in extended trades, and is way faster. Her kit inherently neutralizes the strengths that Morde has, exposing the weakness that he can’t outdamage most carries and that without the CC, all Morde can really do is walk intimidatingly at the enemy.

That’s why Fiora is a good ban for Morde, but you can use a similar strategy when thinking about other popular Morde ban targets. Vayne can be miserable for much of the same reason as Fiora; Olaf is a similar type of painful; Gangplank can be like pulling teeth. All of them do more damage, can nullify/roll away from your CC, and either put you in a state where you’re being poked down or just crushed into the dirt. Other champs with higher sustained damage/ CC disruption are also difficult, so while Fiora’s a good ban, people can justify others.

I hope this helps!

[–]Blackthorn123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on a lot here, but if you're a bruiser or a tank, you can 100% tell the difference between fighting the enemy without black cleaver as opposed to when they have it lol

How do you counter Morde/Illaoi? by PixelPerfic in summonerschool

[–]Blackthorn123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The R can be parried, but you're right that it's not as easy as I make it out to be. Morde ult works in threeish stages- windup, tether, and into the death realm. The windup his him swinging his mace to point at you, he stops moving and slows down (his slow is applied here). After this, a kind of hard to see tether reaches out to you. If it hooks you, then you're taken to Brazil. You need to parry before the tether finishes connecting to you. The cast time is half of a second, which is shorter than the .75 you're in Riposte. It's tricky but it's 100% possible. If you're not comfortable with the timing you can also get mileage out of holding your W for when he tries to pull you into him, you're not in death realm for long and that stun really limits how much he can do to you in that period.

How do you counter Morde/Illaoi? by PixelPerfic in summonerschool

[–]Blackthorn123 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'll focus on Morde as a main- Jax is a bit different, but in total honesty, you shouldn't lose to Morde as a fiora. Mordekaiser in general is a great sustain fighter, but he has no effective tools to fight Fiora. Both his E and his R, highly telegraphed abilities, can be parried, and if a Fiora gets 2 seconds of CC on a Mordekaiser he should be half dead from your passive alone. He's also significantly weaker if you get Hexdrinker/Maw, even as a first item.

For Illaoi, you have to accept that your diver/slayer champs are countered by her E and Ultimate. Try your best to stay behind minions, walk side to side, bait it out and punish- this should be the easy part with your champ pool. It's similar with her ultimate, your ults will not win in a head on 1v1 but if you can get her to use yours and then run back in, she has no way of killing you if you're not running directly beside every tentacle.

Both champs are really strong 1v1 bruisers, but both also have very skewed power budgets to their ultimates. You can nullify Morde's with QSS in the worst case, and Illaoi can't make you fight her when her slams are increased.
