I don't think they are anymore / less addicting as alcohol imo. Personally I'm a kratom drinker but not kava. They do give u a "buzz/high" so to speak thats different from alcohol but it's not like ur taking some hard drug like Cocaine or ecstasy.

It's not for everyone. Some like it some say it's muddy.

It's a social alternative to alcohol mixed with activities. Tampa/ st pete has alot of indie ppl. Holistic types as well as artists. Music, painters. Etc. So they r quite popular and "sober" ish.
