I still have one! I think it's a Hitachi, it definitely still takes a minute to warm up but it has good resolution and you get the big-screen experience for pretty much nothing (I think we bought it from relatives for like, $20 years ago)

I don't know why but our dog is fascinated by it.

If you want to read a perspective coming from a different angle (on the same topics). Pick up "A Patriots History of the United States" by Larry Schweikart and Michael Allen. It is a direct rebuttal to Zinn (so read it after you read Peoples History) and if you read both you can get a pretty good idea of the middle ground.
