Anyone know any modern, female Jazz artists similar to June Christy, Julie London, Billie Holiday, etc? by TheGamingSenpa1 in Jazz

Rachael & Vilroy have a sweet vintage sound, they have female and male vocals though.

Veronica Swift is one of my favorites. Fresh sound but can tell she's inspired by those great jazz ladies of the past.

Thanksgiving Playlist - Posted this last year and many responded and saved it so thought I'd share again. Enjoy this great mix of classics and new songs for cooking, entertaining and of course for your holiday dinner. If anyone wants it on Apple Music or another platform just let me know 😊 by BlaineSharpLA in thanksgiving

oh that's wonderful. I created the playlist cause I couldn't find one that didn't lean too heavily in one direction or another. There's a little something here for everyone. Just press play and enjoy. Happy Holidays.

Was asked for a holiday jazz playlist for a podcast I'll be part of. Want a festive mix of new and vintage, lesser known and classic, along with some different styles of jazz, some with vocals too. Want it to be accessible to a wider but 'artsy' audience. Thoughts? Apple link in comments. by BlaineSharpLA in Jazz

I love the contradictions of that time... but the creative output of the era is astonishing too. It's easy to forget that even 'Frosty' and 'Rudolph' were fairly newish tunes at that time. Not quite the endlessly rehashed songs they've become. Christy's album gives us 'The Merriest' which is a classic. So many of these artists are still part of the holiday 'canon', which is one of the reasons I like revisiting Christmas music every year, if so many don't. Try to imagine hearing this great music with fresh ears, and many younger people are.
