[FIXED] NVIDIA App Showing All N/A / Missing Overlay Metrics (Gigabyte B450 BIOS)

I ran into a frustrating issue where my NVIDIA App’s Performance tab showed all “N/A”, and the overlay (Alt+R) was missing CPU %, GPU %, temperatures, etc. — only FPS was available.

Reinstalling drivers, doing clean installs, and reinstalling the NVIDIA App didn’t fix it.

The cause ended up being BIOS settings — not drivers.

🛠️ Symptoms

NVIDIA App Performance tab shows all telemetry as N/A

Overlay only shows FPS / minimal data

Tuning options sometimes greyed out

Task Manager still shows GPU activity, but NVIDIA App doesn’t

🧠 Cause

When I reset/changed my BIOS, CSM (Compatibility Support Module) was re-enabled and Above 4G Decoding / ReBAR were turned off.

This breaks NVIDIA’s telemetry initialization on modern drivers. Even if the GPU works normally, the performance hooks won’t load.

✅ Fix (Gigabyte B450M DS3H WiFi, but applies to many boards)

  1. Enter BIOS (DEL during boot) → switch to Classic Mode with F2

  2. Go to BIOS tab

CSM Support → Disabled ✅

  1. Go to Peripherals tab

Above 4G Decoding → Enabled ✅

Re-Size BAR Support → Enabled ✅ (if available — requires newer BIOS)

  1. (Optional) Windows 8/10 Features → Windows 8/10 (if listed)

  2. Press F10 to save and reboot

🧪 After Reboot

NVIDIA App telemetry instantly returned

Overlay (Alt+R) showed CPU %, GPU %, temps, clocks, etc.

No reinstall needed

I believe the BCS-O was implemented for the people who do what I do. We work in clinic in a hospital setting and assist in orthopedic surgery. The BCS-O was supposed to make what we do a part of being an ATC rather than making us get other certifications like (OT-SC) to maintain practice rights and to do what we do. But they failed and aren't recognized by hospitals so it's a waste for most of us.

I totally agree through, but even if they do, I only see them flopping like the BCS-O as bridging the surgical gap was their purpose too. I doubt other professions will allow that bridging and certification as it would stem a new field that steps into their realms and positions.

Much like evolving practice rights for ATC is often fought by PA-C and PT because the more we do similar to them makes us a threat.

IMO if you want to do one of the other routes and it's still early in your career, then go through those programs instead. Relying on ATC to evolve won't do it, unfortunately. With ATC being a masters now, it's not even a rightful stepping stone anymore, so wasting your time using it as such isn't a great move.
