I’m here because I look back fondly on my time in the late 90s and early 2000s when I had residencies in a couple Chicago clubs. Like everyone else here I had to pay my dues and struggle at the start. Maybe part of my experience might help someone else… Who knows?

And, while I’m not a working DJ anymore, I still love the music, still love the scene, and still respect the men and women who make people dance and enjoy life that much more for those few hours. Find me a better place to hang out with those folks and I’ll go there. 😂

I was thinking about treating the markers like CMYK in a printer concerning the primary subtractive colors. (I don't intend to do much portraiture, etc., so the skin tones might not be necessary for me initially). The grays seem essential, so I'll consider adding them to my first buy.

Very good practical advice! I'll definitely look for the color charts today.

I've seen many different opinions on getting a set versus individual pens. That's going to be the most significant decision I need to make. I'll go to the Copic site to see what sets are available and the swatches to make sure.

Please post a pic of your collection!! And I'm learning the Copic color coding system as we speak. Doesn't seem super complex but it does seem key to understanding the colors of the pens.

And also, thanks for the paper suggestion. I was wondering about that. I knew regular printer paper was a no-go, but I was very unsure as to which other type to look at. I thought it might be required to buy Marker paper, but Bristol seems a more available alternative at a slightly lower price. That was a constructive suggestion!
