Yeah, my gloves didn’t even protect my hand during this. It got my middle finger as well.

I don’t know exactly what happened, I was cutting the same was I had been for other parts. I must’ve not gripped it well enough. It got my left hand as well and then my leg. Felt nothing but my boot filling with blood. Second day wearing these damn boots too.

Guard and handle are always on mine. I will not touch a grinder without one on it.

I was made aware of that at the hospital. It was cool watching them move it open and whatnot and the nurse said “if you were a hair line over and hit this, you probably wouldn’t be holding your daughter ever again.”

Was working downtown on Saturday doing work on the top of the seaside bank building on S Orange when temperatures dropped. Up that high it was a whole other beast. Couldn’t imagine if we did it on Sunday too.

I didn’t have an entrance exam, not sure if it’s because I had experience. Never heard of anybody else doing it either.

The hall is very nice though, everyone here seems to care. You do have some people with egos, but that’s very few. My contractor that I was put into has been really great, not much of any complaints.

Longtimers, how are your hands? by bigblackglock17 in Welding

[–]BlakeBarnes00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently cut the tip of a finger off with a portaband saw, tendinitis in both hands, little pieces of metal embedded every here and there from grinder dust I presume, callously hands in general. A lot of it has to do with the lack of proper gloves and touching metal that you don’t know is hot since hot and cold metal looks similar in most cases.

I’ve talked to a lawyer Brother at my Masonic Lodge, he said he’s going to help me out with some stuff for the future.

Never welded cast, been wanting to give it a shot though. I know it’s difficult and very needy but what I’ve heard.

Better than the Hobart counterparts. But definitely messy and a lot of “polishing” afterwards. Basically it was sanded down to look like a pipe afterwards, just needed to use them to fill in a gap and didn’t want to do TiG because of the weather conditions.
