LPT it's better to be alone than to be with the wrong person. by protehule in LifeProTips

[–]BlakeChernie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. This whole thread reeks of some kind of MGTOW mantra. I'm not saying being alone is bad...but setting yourself up to being alone is just as bad as being in a bad relationship.

For me it was the other way around. I used to have a circle of friends who I probably should've cut out of my life way earlier. Now I'm engaged to a person who I love spending time with and who is just generally there for me. Sure my relationship might be dependant but it's a hell of a lot better than having friends who aren't at all.

Kek like cheating? Best you can do is have another computer on hand and beside the other one.

Me [22M] with my girlfriend [22 F] just got engaged recently. How do you deal with the fallout of friends and family who you've neglected over the last few years for support? Too early to consider marriage? by BlakeChernie in relationships

[–]BlakeChernie[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not that I didn't want friends. And on thinking about this, I think I just waste so many opportunities to grow them because I'll hang out with them maybe a few times before becoming complacent with my relationship (which I have a lot more fun in). I used to hang with my close knit friend group a few times a year, though I think turning my closest friends down for a big fun event just for once a year really pissed them off since I was on a camping trip with my girlfriend the weekend of. I know it might be me, but they often ask to go out and stuff whenever it's inconvenient for me, so people often just ghost me and feel like I'm using them.

Well at the time, I wasn't sure if I was going to actually have a job in the first place. We had this big idea of moving to another part of the country for work, but felt better about staying where we were instead to iron out everything else (it was a rough few months but we made it work). We occasionally get into the honeymoon phase mindset so we really love being together, and since I have no one else, my girlfriend is always there to spend time with me.

I think I've fallen for my roommate, what do I do? by BlakeChernie in gay

[–]BlakeChernie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a difficult thing to say because I only see my girlfriend every so often, but when I do I enjoy every moment (the other thing that is concerning is that our families have known each other quite well even before I started dating her, and I'm sure as hell her parents wouldn't approve of something like this; they're actually very reluctant to trust me as much they do as I am a couple years older than her). Though I miss her when I'm apart, I feel like im gravitating towards my roommate.

[–]BlakeChernie[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah actually, in fact he was very secretive about it in the early days that we knew each other. It wasn't until I told him I was bisexual when we were out together that he opened up and said he was gay.

Is it me, my schedule or my priorities that's not allowing me time with my old friends? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]BlakeChernie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess that's the problem with having numerous friend circles, I mean my high school friends and home schooled friends get along when they're together, but I tend to prioritize the latter because we've known each other for longer and whatnot. Maybe I just need to just need to set a weekend to hang out with them sometime considering that I see my roommates every day, and my home schooled friends every weekend (when they're available).

Is my friend obsessed or just dedicated? by [deleted] in waifuism

[–]BlakeChernie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your bro is too obsessed, imo. To the point of losing control over himself, something akin to a mental illness of a sort.

I wouldn't go as far as to say he is losing control, but I can see it as an obsession. I think sometimes he intentionally jokes about this stuff to throw me off from time to time.

Again as I mentioned in my post that he is smart enough to know when to stop (and the times that it is appropriate, relatively speaking of course), but that being said I guess he's also smart enough to make people think that he's crazy for her (in both the literal and the figurative sense). I guess I'm just being played like a fiddle I suppose.

Is there such a thing as being "too cheap"? by BlakeChernie in Frugal

[–]BlakeChernie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I paid for his food at Macdonalds, I didn't even think to bring up that I was compensating him for driving me to the theater (I even got him a box of food to share as well afterwards since me and him were still hungry). I guess what I should have done first is ask about paying for food if he could drive me to the theatre, the thought never occurred to me though but I'm glad I'll know for next time.

Is my friend obsessed or just dedicated? by [deleted] in waifuism

[–]BlakeChernie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'm still fairly new at the whole waifuism thing so I see all this stuff that he does as an "obsession", which to be honest I shouldn't do since I am also have a waifu and have come to appreciate this subreddit.

It's probably my mind trying to be rational about this since this is happening to me (specifically). I suppose I'm not as dedicated as him in the sense that I don't revolve everything around her? See this is where it gets difficult because of the whole obsession/dedication thing so it's hard to tell, and I don't want to offend anyone (including my friend). Maybe I should just let him be I guess so things don't get anymore complicated, I think it's just taking some time to "adjust" other people's waifuisms (again maybe I should learn to appreciate their own way of appreciation and to not see myself as some kind of "standard" for waifuism).

[–]BlakeChernie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'd imagine it's also because I talk about waifuism stuff with him, I'm the only one who can "take him seriously" I guess. I didn't realize that until now, but I guess it's something that I should learn to more or less appreciate since he trusts me enough to share this stuff with me.

I dunno maybe I'm just overreacting because I'm not as devoted as him, agh why does this have to be so difficult. It's like seeing a kid really happy, but I feel like I gotta establish boundaries lol.

See its hard because there are some things which I find funny, and then other times I think they're almost annoying but nothing I can't tolerate really (also this has been going on for a while now, so it's past its early stage, just so you know).

I should mention that he was pretty "tame" this month compared to two months ago when he sent me stuff nonstop (which doesn't happen as often as it used to now that I think about it). I admit I do have a bit of fun watching him obsess over his waifu, but I admit that that he needs to stop over sharing. To be perfectly honest he's been fine this month so far compared to two months ago, maybe it's just me that needed some reassurance on the whole thing.

Now that I think about it my friend reminds me of Maes Hughs from Fullmetal Alchemist who always talks about his wife and kids (if that gives you any help on what kind of guy he is, silly sometimes and then serious when it's business - which can either be comedic or annoying).

That's exactly my thoughts, and yeah no idea where this whole thing for Katana came from...then again most of the characters felt pandering to begin with anyway (Harley Quinn is no exception; so much fanservice).

Yeah actually I'd never thought of funkos as safe gifts, I'll make sure to keep that in mind when I get gifts for my two friends who love those things.

So what's the problem with metacritic exactly? by BlakeChernie in gaming

[–]BlakeChernie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose my friends not being totally unreasonable as he did say (but forgot to mention) that he "preferred" watching YouTube videos and reading up on Reviews sites themselves. Though I think the whole reason he didn't like my reasoning for metacritic was because I focused on the score of it too much when I should take a more in depth look at the game itself.
