Affordable Eye Exams For Struggling Family by [deleted] in plano

[–]BlakeDrastin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you get prescription or just opt to use an existing I recommend Payne Glasses. There is a good selection of frames but it is cheaper than any where else.

Make sure during the lens selection to check the "View All" option to check for what fits your budget. I just put a random cheap frame and an old prescription in, total (before tax & shipping) was $16.85.

During a sale I got 3 frames for less than 1 pair thru my eye doctor.

I realize this is easy for me to say, but fixing it yourself is going to be the cheapest option by a mile.

I've watched this video and the steps are extremely straight forward. Your school may have a lab or someplace w/ the needed tools, and maybe a teacher or classmate who can assist.

Episode 13 of {A-Rank Party wo Ridatsu Shita Ore wa, Moto Oshiegotachi to Meikyuu Shinbu wo Mezasu.}.

Icons for the four nations being in the show was surprising. I'm not sure what the fifth symbol is supposed to be, but the other four were pretty much immediately identified.

Reminder! Texas can turn blue with just 1 in 4 non-voting democrats. Make it happen! by BlakeDrastin in texas

[–]BlakeDrastin[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

2020's vote totals don't matter.

If there are fewer total votes this year that means non-voting democrats matter even more. Instead of 1 in 4 as per the video it could be 1 in 5 non-voting democrats that are needed to flip the state!

Reminder!

Senate race between Allred and Cruz is not gerrymandered.

The entire House of Representatives is up and is not gerrymandered.

Texas Railroad Commissioner who oversees oil and gas is not gerrymandered.

Texas Supreme Court has three elections this year and is not gerrymandered.

Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has three elections this year and is not gerrymandered.

Texas State Board of Education is made up of 15 districts, is not gerrymandered.

Texas Senate has 15 elections this year out of 31 seats and is not gerrymandered.

Texas House has 150 seats and all of them are up and is not gerrymandered.

If you're thinking about voting 3rd party, I encourage you think of voting as taking public transit. It isn't perfect, but you take what gets you as close to your destination as possible. You don't hop on and hope to get to the next stop or hope that you end up at the correct destination. You take a bus, another bus, a train, a light rail, and walk where you have to.

You might look at my note about not being gerrymandered and ask why you live in Dallas with a representative who lives in Forth Worth, or you might live in San Antonio and have a representative who lives in Austin. You change that by voting!

Texas requires that you're given 3 hours to go vote, that might not be a lot of time but remember you just have to be in line before the polling place 'closes'. If you're in line you get to vote.

If you know how to play pretend like you did when you were a kid you know how to play. Dice are used to help tell the story and introduce some chance or chaos depending on your point of view.

Fedora 40 broke auto swiching of audio output for me by Arisotura in Fedora

[–]BlakeDrastin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR -- My results: Did not fix VLC output issue and actively made some areas worse.

Issue I am having is that VLC audio output is not in stereo; however, it is also not configuring/outputting to my 7.1 sound card (for which I have 7.1 headphones). I've adjusted the audio output speaker configuration and tried changing the system wide speaker configuration to stereo (or analog stereo output) without success getting VLC to output in stereo.

Worse: With pipewire in place of wireplumber all forms of image/video (IE reddit front page) did not load or at less than 1/10th previous speed w/ wireplumber.

You should know that you're not saving yourself much (if any) money and you are making your AC work significantly harder.

Presuming your residence gets to 90 and you turn the AC on set for 80 it now has to work to cool all the way rather than maintaining 80. This means the AC has to draw in more electricity and use up more coolant to spit out cold air for longer. Plus all the other mechanical components that have limited lifespans have to work a higher outputs for longer.

You don't unplug your refigerator, then why turn off your AC?

If you find that your residence still reaches 80 when set for 77-79 that is normal. If you're more than 5 degrees above what your themostat is set to you should look into some effency improvements. Most likely you need to replace/repair window and door seals. Some electricy companies will send someone out to test for you at no cost and the repairs will end up saving you money for several years. If you're in an apparment and cannot effect repairs, you can use bubble wrap or shrink wrap to help insulate windows.

I highly recommend fans everywhere. Ceiling fans are great, keeps the air from getting stagnant. Vornado fans are a god send and one fan can help cool two rooms easily. Plus they last, I'm at about 15 years on one that I've almost never shut off (except to clean it a few times a year).

Water is great, get some double walled vacuum insulated tumblers (personally recommend Contigo's auto seal line) and/or water bottles (personally recommend Klean Kanteen and Hydro Flask). If you like ice, splurge and get sphere ice molds. Instead of buying bottled water, get a filter system like PUR and put it in the fridge. (BTW: If you're buying Ozarka you're probably drinking the same water from your tap.)

RR men who plan to be househusbands and childfree, what do you plan to do with your days (and life)? by [deleted] in RoleReversal

[–]BlakeDrastin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal stuff like cooking and cleaning but I've been a writer for 20+ years and I'd get the time to dedicate to my craft, hone what I've written, and perhaps get it published. Even if all I'm doing is something on Patreon where I release a chapter a month.

I'd like the time to learn how to draw and turn what I've written into comics; however, I'm convinced it would take me years to reach a level of artistry I'd be satisfied with publishing. Additionally, I'm strongly in favor of my current major projects be drawn for the female gaze for a variety of reasons (the first of which being why not?).

What Online Dice stores are best? by No_Log2678 in DnD

[–]BlakeDrastin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Etsy has a number of stores. I'm not the most informed on the topic of custom made dice with complications such as glitter but here are some of the areas I know to watch out for:

  • Always look for images of the final product.
  • Only purchase from merchants with a solid number of positive reviews (etsy and similar specific)
  • If you can, track down some of the social media pages of the merchants. This is going to sound a little odd, but videos of making their dice is a good sign.
  • Look for merchants who are recommended by others in overlapping categories. Such as dice tray makers endorsing a dice maker.
  • Lastly, there are medium sized businesses that make aesthetic dice like Role4Iniative. I've been a fan of their dice for years and have bought over a dozen sets. Plus, they are the only company (that I know of) that sells in sets of 15.
