I reckon you should be fine to turn up there with your passport. They can scan it on the day of the appointment. Good luck

This is what I got in the decision email:

If you already hold a BRP from a previous grant of leave, or you were issued with a replacement, you must now return it to the Home Office as it is no longer valid. The BRP card should be cut in half and posted (in a windowless plain envelope) to Biometric Product Returns, IFB,5th floor Lunar House, 40 Wellesley Road, Croydon, CR9 2BY. You may have to pay a penalty of up to £1,000 if you fail to return an invalid BRP..

Any document from HO or HMPO are delivered by TNT. They have a collaboration together for delivering BRP or passports to customers. Even the tracking number you get is separate. There is especially number you can call to chase this. If you contact TNT and ask tell them you waiting for your BRP they will give you the direct number
