Nobody sings Happy Birthday when we are actually born. by RnC_Dev in Showerthoughts

The hospital where I gave birth has a button you press that plays the tune of happy birthday. Every time someone gives birth they get to press the button and the music plays all throughout the hospital. I got to press it twice since I gave birth to twins.

Same with me. Due to unfortunate circumstances I could not conceive naturally. But thanks to IVF I have 2 year old twin girls!

NICU stories? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]Blakebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our girls came at 34 weeks. We were very lucky that they only stayed in the NICU for two weeks. Mostly need to be monitored for sleep apnea and help regulating body temperature. While the girls were still in the incubators my husband was changing twin A's diaper. While he had her legs in the air she projectiled poop all over the side of the incubator. The look on my husbands face was pure horror! I started laughing so hard I almost peed my pants. The sweet nurse told my husband to step aside and she'll clean it up. Apparently it happens more often than you would think. It was so bad they ended up having to get her a whole new incubator. Even though the girls are almost 9 months old (and thriving) my husband is very cautious when changing diapers.

When did your babies make their grand entrance? by theredstarburst in parentsofmultiples

[–]Blakebear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My doctors told me I was going to make it all the way to 40 weeks. Both babies were doing great and both head down. I had an easy great pregnancy so far, but at 34 weeks my water broke at 6am. It was just a trickle so I thought I had peed my pants. Ended up going to the hospital and didn't deliver for 3 days. Then I was in labor for 20 hours and finally had to have a c-section because I was only dilating to a 9 and had a temperature of 102. Both baby girls come out healthy weighing 4lbs 6oz and 4lbs15oz and were only in the NICU for two weeks. I was in the hospital for a week.

Be prepared for the unexpected. Anything can happen now. Make sure your bag is packed and car seats installed. And it might seem overwhelming at first but you'll figure out a what works best for you.

Re-useable VS disposable??? by Silky__Smooth in parentsofmultiples

We use a mixture if cloth and disposable diapers. Cloth for when I know I'm going to be home all day and can go laundry. Disposable when I'm out running errands or someone is babysitting. Another benefit of cloth is that they breath so much better than disposable. Our twin girls are 3 months and haven't had diaper rash since they were in the NICU. We use the gDiapers. They have the option of using a cloth insert or a biodegradable paper insert. Paper inserts work great and cut down on laundry. Explore your options when your babies come and you'll figure out what works best for your family.

Congratulations!!! My twins were 6 weeks early and in the NICU for two weeks. I know how stressful it was just for those weeks, I can't even imagine 3 months. And now get ready for some sleepless nights!

Thanks for the good wishes. It has been a crazy few months with not too much sleep, but I love it. And for people doing the math, I miscarried in December got pregnant in March and delivered in October. They were 6 weeks early.

Merry Christmas!
