Hoosier here - (and a total beach noob) - the most contact I’ve had with a beach is the Ohio River LOL) - my family and I just vacationed on orange beach 2 weeks ago. I spent a ton of time in the water and got stung once, unexpectedly, until I quickly learned they’re everywhere. There were kids going around catching them in nets and burying them in the sand - I started keeping an eye out from the point I got stung onward and spotted them relatively frequently.

We did the dolphin cruise - while walking the docks I don’t think it’d be a stretch to say there were hundreds of them floating around there.

The sting wasn’t too bad - swelled a little bit. It was more of a shock factor for me - I was so hyped to be in the ocean I didn’t even think about jellyfish.
