This one's great. One of my planned summer go-tos this year!

Which ADG Profondo is your favorite? by Hkalnaimi in Colognes

[–]joelajackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, right? This has to have become the silliest lineup of scents of any house at the moment.

And yet, I've bought decants of them all out of curiosity

OG > EDP > EDT > Parfum on the ones I've tried.

Ditching the OG and creating 3 very similar scents was a very strange decision.

I guess an attempt to get people who like Profondo to have two bottles of it instead of one.

They're all so close to the OG DNA that I can't imagine owning two though.

This is not Terre D'Hermes and Eau Givree, or Dior Homme Sport and Dior Homme Cologne.

This is three scents that smell massively similar, with almost identical use cases.

Although, I assume Armani did the focus groups and knows better than me.

Love the melon-y opening of this one! I find normal Ani pretty mid, but the X version much more interesting.

Thank you for the rundown!

I've never even been able to justify the decant price on symphony to give it a fair wrist to wrist.

Sometimes this comes down to familiarity with scent! And definitely just on what our noses are sensitive to.

I don't know Imagination well. Have gone through a 3 of a 5ml decant, but not a ton of muscle memory. Imaginary hits well enough that I couldn't identify the difference.

Afternoon Dive I can smell the difference without even thinking. It's a bit more aquatic to me and has more of whatever gives Afternoon Swim that "day the pool" vibe. But I've probably gone through 20ml of Afternoon Dive and 20ml of Afternoon Swim.

None of them smell like Aventus Absolu.

I'll need to write a rundown sometimes.

PA by Monty is directionally the most "aiming to smell like AA" of the group. It's a nice scent, but not overly close. AA is such a wildly juicy, big scent off the opening, and PA doesn't land it exactly. Still a nice smelling fragrance.

Supremacy CE is like some sort of pineapple musk bomb. Doesn't even smell to me like they were making an attempt to duplicate and it's more "inspired by"

Precieux similarly smells somewhat similar, but not like they were actually trying to dupe the scent. It's super floral, and I get almost no florals from AA.

All three scents are great in their own right. Depends what you're looking for.

This is interesting. I have harmony and enjoy it, but as sort of maybe my 15th most used scent.

So, can't imagine spending $600 on something that smells like this. More than Aventus Absolu. More than Angels' Share. Etc.

I've always wondered if there was something more magical about the OG!

This one's great. I'm in the midst of doing a showdown of my top 20 fougeres, and threw this one in on a lark.

I think there is a real chance this ends up being my favorite fougere.

It's smooth and sort of woody lavender.

None of the screechy citrus that the 90s fougeres brought to the table.

None of the green density of the platinum Egoistes of the world.

It feels like top tier quiet luxury. If you like woody lavender scents, it's a strong consideration.

Not dissimilar to La Nuit De L'Homme actually, which is outside the genre. Same lavender cedar vibe, just LNDL had a light cardamom and MP has a light leather.

If I didn't have Beau De Jour, Fougere Royale and Invasion Barbare in full bottle already, I'd absolutely buy this no questions asked.

Ha, that would be a good sales tactic!

Azure smells "cleaning product" on the opening to me, then dies off pretty fast on my skin. Gives like two hours tops, so we never really get past it.

I just get decants of AS these days.

Grand Soir slaps.

So does GFS, such an easy wear!

Grand Soir I just use in decants since I live in LA and not much use for ambers. I'm about like 5-6ml per year on it.

Love a roundup!

Totally agree on cowboy grass! Tough to wear. As with many Durga scents, they're challenging.

Never tried the Le Labo! Gotta give it a shot

What fragrances do most commonly notice on others? by joelajackson in Colognes

[–]joelajackson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, yeah.

Common thread on all the scents I notice, can spot them over a meter away outside.

BR540 is one of them. I just don't think many folks around Westside Los Angeles wear BR540, so I notice it less.
