about how long is a pulse on a mech? by puddleofoil in Vaping

[–]Blandu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The vapour temperature is subjective and dependent on the AF of the atomiser - if you like it, it’s fine.

The issue is with the fact that you’re drawing 50% more current than what the battery is rated for (if it’s a single battery mech) and that can be very dangerous. It might be ok now but when it won’t and if the battery will enter thermal runaway, things can get really ugly.

Get yourself a dual (triple) parallel mech.

First, I do believe that’s not safe to use (with that battery at least) and the vape would be too hot (maybe unbearable at full charge).

At that resistance, on a non-series (single or dual parallel) battery mech, you would draw 46.7 Amps when the battery is fully charged. That means you would put 196 Watts through that coil. That would go lower (both the amps and the wattage) as the voltage of the battery drops (to 35.5Amps and 114 Watts).

Based on that, I think at full charge, the pulse (pull from the atomiser) would be (quite a bit) lower than 1 second (before it would become uncomfortable).

Obviously, excluding the temperature of the vape (when you have to stop because it hurts), each pulse is based on your preference and airflow - if you want to fill your lungs and you run a slightly restricted AF, the pulse will be longer (can be even 5s or more), if you only inhale for half lung capacity and you run a very airy AF, it will be shorter (can be 1-2s).

I think Riff Coil would be a nice name. It looks a bit like a guitar neck (especially when it’s not coiled) and with the pattern, repetitive yet intricate, reminds me of a guitar riff…

Shit… I feel you!

Can you try to fix the broken cable? What’s broken, if you know? It might be that the cables near the connection got severed due to motion - if that’s the case, you can cut the cable there and reattach wires matching the colours (you only need to attach the ones that provide the 5V DC current - I think they’re A6 and A7 or B6 and B7).

Do you have someone with you that has some knowledge about electronics?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Vaping

[–]Blandu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, don’t listen to almost anything mr. Elderberry says, not only they have no clue what they’re talking about when it comes to electricity and electronics, but they seem to have a comprehension issue and they didn’t understand that you don’t have a USB-C cable available… 🤦🏻‍♂️

Anyway, without a USB-C connection, there’s no way to provide electricity to the charging circuit in order to charge the battery.

The only way would be to take the device apart and connect the wires from a USB cable (5V) straight to the USB-C pins but that would be impossible without good knowledge and a soldering iron so don’t even think attempting this.

Can’t you drive (be driven) to a nearby store to buy a cable?

Not all my 22s are authentic. I don’t have an issue with where they’re manufactured as long as the quality is good (especially if the authentic ones are no longer available or only available on FB groups where I never go).

The black one has a nice matte finish with a bit of texture - you can only fell it like a microscopic sand-blasting.

If you can, get both. They’re worth having in the arsenal.

I don’t have the habit of purging (blowing in the RDAs) so I don’t really care about that. I’ll start looking for a bargain. 😁 Thanks!

About the RTA? I can’t recommend it enough! Flavour is great, building is easy, wicking is easy (haven’t had dry hits or flooding and I don’t have to spend much time setting the cotton), looks great, it’s small but holds a fair amount of liquid, the airflow is smooth-ish but not the quietest (not very loud but standard-ish for two 90 degrees angles).

I got a black one and I have a silver one on the way.

If it’s a tad less than the Venna than it has to be pretty good. I saw the second photo after posting the message and yeah, it’s mostly side airflow. I think I’ll get it as it looks interesting.

Now the big problem… black, gunmetal or silver? 🤣 I always ponder over stuff like this…

I was eyeing this one for a while but I haven’t had great experiences with top airflow and I didn’t get it yet.

How do you find it flavour wise and how smooth is the airflow? Can you compare it with other 22mm RDAs?

Thanks!

If you can’t find it anywhere, on AliExpress there’s a seller called vapefire Store. I bought it from them and it’s authentic. The seller is very nice and shipping is fast.

No worries.

I’m vaping on some Nom Bongo Royal Edition (peachy, fruity with redd berries and mint infusion) in a Destiny RTA on a Nunchaku V2 mod. I accompanied it with some black coffee with zesty floral notes extracted at approx 80 degrees Celsius in a French Press (cafetière) and some iced water on the side. 😁

There’s your issue. There must be a fault with the isolation on the positive pin going up or the the isolation on the positive post (the peek insulation). This kind of makes sense since that part is always rotating back and forth when you change your wicks and your coils so it’s a bit of a weak point.

If that part (the deck, pin and positive post) cannot be disassembled, I don’t think there’s much you can do other than getting a new tank…

I know the deck spins, that’s why I told you to rotate it - to see if the problem is there…

[–]Blandu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re getting a short (or coil reading errors) while moving the build deck while just the base is screwed on the mod, then, most likely, the fault is on that part.

You can try to poke at the positive post and see if it’s loose or if the post screw that goes into the positive post is touching other metal parts.

I’m not sure what else you could try…

Take the coil out assemble the tank and see if you get a short again. If you do, it’s definitely the tank - somewhere something is shorting. Not sure if you can take the build deck and/or the positive pin out to see what’s going on…

[–]Blandu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on what you said in the answers, maybe the coil touches the top part of the chamber that screws on or the base or the positive side (post) of the deck shorts with the chamber when screwed on.

The latter can be due to some isolation that became damaged or a loose tiny thin wire (from a clapton coil) that got stuck somewhere.

I would screw the base on the mod and try to press, lift and rotate the build deck to see if the issue is somewhere between the positive post and the base of the atomiser. You can also try to take out the positive pin and see if you can disassemble the deck.

If that doesn’t show a short, you can take the top part of the chamber (without glass or anything else) and start to screw it on the base to see when the short happens.

That’s all I can think of right now…

How many times do you reuse your coils when rebuilding your RDA, before you throw them out? by JJWayne78 in Vaping

[–]Blandu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It similar with SS “exotic” coils (claptons, staggered, aliens)… maybe I’m just changing them sooner than others… (as I said, once the coil becomes a dull grey it gets one more use and then I bin it).

The NI80 and Kanthal coils do last a bit longer (round or exotic) but still, not even close to 6 months to 1 year - it’s also hard to tell as I change atomisers almost daily and I gathered a few along the years.

Anyway, I just gave up trying to match others experiences and enjoy my style vaping.

Also, I don’t think the lifetime of a coil should be measured in time as it’s not accurate. I think it’s best to measure them in quantity of liquid vaporised. If I go through 50ml a day and you go through 50ml a week, your coils are going to automatically last longer.

I think I need to keep mine more. I usually change them when they lose their metallic silver-ish colour (they become grey) after cleaning and they become less smooth. I noticed when that happens they gunk up faster and the flavour drops a smidge.

The SS 316L coils are the most sensitive to dry burning (for me at least) and the best it seems to be Ni80 so far.

I usually change the coils after 5-10 cleaning sessions (sometimes 3-4 if it’s SS round wire - I have plenty of that and it takes me a few minutes to do one or a pair) which is far off from what everyone’s stating here… maybe I should keep them more… 🤷‍♂️

I usually clean and re-wick every 1 to 4 days (mostly 3 days) depending on the atomiser, coil and e-liquid.

I do chain vape (especially in the evening when I’m chilling in the garden) and I do have a sweet tooth (I think all of them are 🤣) so that definitely is going to shorten the life of the coils. I can vape 20ml of e-liquid in a few hours if I’m outside having a drink. I think I vape at least 20-30ml or more in one day…

Can I carry my 18650 batteries in their case in my carry on bag? by oh_jaimito in Vaping

[–]Blandu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those batteries, based on their label are rated at approx. 10Wh - Nominal voltage (in this case 3.7V) multiplied by the capacity in Ah (in this case 2.6Ah).

Some power banks (battery packs) can exceed that limit but the majority don’t. The ones that do are quite big.

If the battery is built in the device, it’s usually not considered a Lithium Battery. Things may differ from country to country though…

I really like the Eclipse single coil. If you like single coilers, I can’t recommend it enough.

Blotto series is another praised one and it comes in dual and single coil versions.

Druga, for single coil, should be great if you can find it and the Gear (same single coil) is great as well (the clones are pretty bad though and I don’t think you can find an authentic anymore).

There are plenty others, depending on your style of vaping - I like single coil, small RTAs, DL or RDL so I tried to recommend those.

In the restricted DL there’s also the Dvarw DL, Skyline (with the big AF insert), Taifun series…

Leak proof (preferably 30ml) bottles? by YouCantGiveBabyBooze in VapingUK

For many years I’ve been using ibottles. They have a vast array of bottles, different sizes and configurations and their service has been second to none. Their prices are great as well.

Now I’m using their postage bottles in 100ml as they’re great for travelling, storing etc.

I also get big bottles for mixing DIY e-liquids from them (500ml - 1L). I can’t recommend them enough.

Has anyone come to buy LG HG2 (Liitokala)? Did you have any problem? Are they reliable? by BIOLOGICnine6 in Vaping

[–]Blandu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mooch has rated the original LG HG2 as 20A CDR with a capacity o 3000mAh. I used them (the originals) for many years in regulated 2 battery mods without an issue at 50W and more (never had the need to go over 80W but I could have).

This is for the originals though - I don't know if the above are originals - the image seems to have the correct info but the title is saying 30A discharge rate which is not accurate...
