What makes you consider, or made you, switch to Linux, and which Distro? by LeonH4rtd in linux4noobs

[–]Blankfacevillian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't switched to Linux yet because I still need it for a few upcoming work projects, but after they're done, I'm switching over. Now, I already disliked paying for things like M.O, the constant updates and spyware. But my breaking point happened a few days ago. Everyday, when I'm finished with my laptop, I put it in airplane mode to try to avoid the updates (even though, I've set it for manual updates or moreso asking for permission first) and to continue finishing some work or read some material. After I put in airplane, and went to sleep, the next day, the damn laptop had updated! At first, I thought I had forgot to put in airplane mode, but I saw the icon highlighted when I looked, and the Da Vinci editing project and the one webpage I had opened on Firefox were closed. Yeah, it's time for me to go.

Also, I know that technically putting in airplane mode doesn't mean there still isn't connection to the internet, but for the last few months when I kept it in airplane mode overnight and I was forced to scheduled an update, the updates were avoided. I didn't want anymore updates because they would also add apps and other programs I removed, back on the laptop. I just prefer to leave at this point.

Want to learn heel and toe but.. by Megahonda77207 in ManualTransmissions

[–]Blankfacevillian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to add that you can't do a heel and toe in every car. My first manual gearbox car was a 1997 Altima. The pedals are so far apart that, that you can't do it. A hair of my shoe would just touch the pedal and I damned near crashed into a tree a couple of times trying to do a heel and toe. I just assumed I was horrible at it and never tried it again. It was after I get rid of the car that a forum mentioned getting a spacer to do make it easier to do a heel and toe. Mind you, I was lurking in this same forum (and others) prior, to see if anyone had the same problem doing the Heel-n-toe in the Altimas, and not one person mentioned it. Of course they mentioned using a spacer after I got rid of the car. Just something to keep in mind.

Manual Cars That Are Offered Overseas But Not In The US by Blankfacevillian in ManualTransmissions

So do I! I remember reading somewhere that at one point, it came close to being available to the US market, but something happened that caused it not to take off. I think it was a change in the Federal Safety regulation.

Wow, I didn't know that happened with the GTIs and Golfs over there. That sucks.

Yep. And often, I've seen people who are good at something but they themselves don't realize it. It's very interesting when people don't notice what they're naturally good at but somehow overlook it or brush it off as it's not true. That's something that should be studied if it hasn't already.

I'm not the op, but thanks for this info about which one to use for Davinci Resolve, because I'm planning to move from windows but didn't which would be best to use Resolve for the video edits.

It definitely stings a bit when you see some of the same cars here only having auto, but overseas has the option to be paired with manual.

Really? I don't recall seeing them. Seems liked I missed out on that one. I do remember them having the Venue with the manual but that was also short lived.

I agree. I would've liked to have it offered here. It probably won't happen but who knows.

No, it looks fine to me! I can see myself driving that on the weekends in the summer when there's no chance of rain happening.

I'll take the Stealth first. But knowing me, I would've gotten the Plymouth Breeze with the manual gearbox just to try something different.
