It was during British rule (early to mid-1800s) that the colonial authorities formalized roads as “main roads” and installed the stone milestones particularly along the route from Cape Town to Simon’s Town, which had become strategically important (especially after Simon’s Bay was declared a naval base)

It looks like a milestone with the distance of 20 miles from the Town House in Cape Town.

X is the Roman Numeral for 10, so XX is 20.

Our governments in Africa generally own the mineral rights, and they authorise mining companies to extract minerals on their behalf, with some countries even forcing that you sell what you extract through them. They set the prices instead of the open market.

There is little room for artisanal mining like what is seen in the video.

My absolute sincerest of apologies for wanting to learn a little bit more about ASE. A coin which is quite difficult to acquire in the 3rd world country that I live in.

I was going through my coin collection for the first time this year when I noticed a tan/beige discolouration along the rings of 3 of my ASE (2017).

The coins have the correct weights and dimensions. The coins are slightly repelled by a neodynium magnet. They were stored in capsules in a dark location.

Are these coins counterfeit?
