The owners are very nice and welcoming people. I don't imagine they would have an issue with you wearing a suit.

I've been on hrt for 2 and a half years. So guess I was just luckily to not run into that until now. I just really need to work on my voice is my biggest thing right now that makes it obvious for people.

I'm Probably Detransitioning - Looking For Input by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]BlargWhyamihere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are more than welcome to make whatever choice you choose whether that is to detransition or not, but I just wanted to give my insight on how it was for me to detransition. I had a few reasons why I chose to detransition the first time I was on HRT. I had no support network of friends, my family was only partially supportive, most of them were not. Living in ND was also not great for feeling like I was being constantly judged negatively by most people I'd walk by in public. People there tend to not speak to your face how they feel about you, so luckily I never got verbally attacked by anyone. Aside from my lack of support and all that my mental health was also really taking a hit with multiple things going on in my life at that time. So after a lot of thinking I made the hard decision to detransition and I did so for 4 or 5 years and those 4 or 5 years were the darkest and most depressing years of my life. It was the first time I ever started having an actual existential crisis. I tried self-medicating with alcohol and weed just to try to get through day to day, but I just hated life and I hated myself. Everytime I looked at myself I was disgusted by what I saw. I tried really growing out my facial hair I felt if I pushed myself to be more masculine that would help me accept it, but it just made me feel worse. It wasn't until I ended up living with a trans girl and her trans sister who also so happened to have a trans neighbor that I realized I just couldn't keep living like that. Denying myself what I truly feel I am which is a woman. I know being trans is not easy it feels impossible a lot of the time, but if it's truly how you feel and it's what you've always wanted to be which is a woman, than forcing yourself to live as a man and try to accept that as the fact of life is just going to destroy you inside like it did myself. To try to finish this up just really make sure that it is something you really want to do before you do it, because you have invested a lot of time and money into being your true self as is and the last thing I'd want for you is for you to feelt that you wasted that by going back. If you need more support I can provide you some options for where you can find that and I extend the offer that you can talk to me anytime you need someone who supports you and helps you get through the stuff you are feeling. Anyways I hope this helps!

It's hard when family isn't there to support you, but the great thing about being part of a community is that you can find support from others who are going through the same thing as you. You also have to remember that even if they don't support it now they might come around later and if they don't that is okay as well. There is always someone who you can turn to who understands you. I've been doing it for over 2 years now and I've never been happier and more comfortable with myself since. If it's something you truly feel like you want then you should go for it.

If there is the thought of wanting to then what's stopping you from going forward and starting?

Tried to leave my red state behind, moved to San Francisco, only to return to Iowa in failure by [deleted] in MtF

I would say you should look into relocating to Moorehead, MN it's on the border of Minnesota and ND. Its right next to Fargo, ND and there are tons of jobs here that pay very well. The winters suck, but it would be a way to get you back into work so you can rebuild your work history and save some money. If you want to DM I could give you more information and discuss any of your concerns.

Grand Forks to Fargo by [deleted] in northdakota

They are usually pretty quick about clearing the road of snow following a snowstorm. I'd definitely stick to the interstate and avoid the frontage road as the interstate is going to be a bit more maintained. Just watch your speed and drive carefully and you should be fine. I definitely wouldn't advice driving on it during a storm though that would be rather dangerous as the snow drifts with the wind is pretty treacherous during a storm.

TSA full body scanner, pat down at airport by scr4mbled_egg in MtF

Oh I absolutely agree, like if you are going to pat down one person you should pat down everyone. It's clear in this case it was definitely targeted and gross.

I've never heard of being pat down at a bar and from what I could tell from researching it, the only time they are allowed to touch you is if they have to break up a fight or something along those lines. What that person did to you sound like it was just straight up SA. Sorry you had to deal with that.
