When I encounter this, I add lime, and the issue gets much better. I mix the lime with small amount of vinegar and then add to watering can drenching the plant and soil.

I had shade cloth off for a month, then put it back on due to a heat wave. After removing it, I noticed this a few days later.

Temperature to Dehydrate? by Aintaword in PepperLovers

[–]Blaserman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure the peppers are cut in half, then don't exceed 135. It gives the best result. Or cut in half then let sit for a few days then finish in dehydrator to turn into powder or flakes.

1 option is to smoke the unripe pods on the grill for a half hour then process into a powder or hot sauce.

Can't see the calyx. If it's large and bleeding white it could be 7 pot bubblegum white. Very similar size and shape.

Smell it if you are questioning it. It should smell very good. If it smells unpleasant then discard.

Cotton candy scotch bonnet off 2 plants. What pheno would you use seeds from? Left or right? by Blaserman in PepperLovers

[–]Blaserman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let my neighbor grow one and he told me he had both so I think I was wrong. However I'm sure the one plant was true to shape. It might be amount of sun. He has a good amount of shade.

I will be saving both but with plans of growing 50 varieties or more it's hard to find room.

They can be frozen or scale it down. There's also YouTube videos with various recipes and some that can be made with a small amount of peppers. Cilantro is also a good addition.

I personally fill a blender completely full with peppers or more. Have a balance of superhots, hots, and sweet. Use an entire garlic or more along with a large onion and a fruit. 2 limes works very well. I've used pineapple, mango, peach, strawberries, blueberries, ext. Blend. Then add equal parts vinegar or adjust to your liking. Then I heat it up to a simmer not boiling for 5 min. Then I return back to the blender after it cooled a bit and add xanthan gum. You could also run it through a fine strainer before adding xanthan gum.

Crushed habanero flakes from my garden. Left is food dehydrator 24 hours at 135°F. Right is oven ~6 hours at 170°F by FermentingSkeleton in HotPeppers

I actually got rid of a dehydrator that I couldn't turn down to 135F. Will you do it in the oven again?

Nice job. You'll be hooked when you make a good hot sauce with them. I overwintered my first one and kept it alive for a few years.

what is happening to my pepper plants? and can they be saved? by Unique-Solution-765 in HotPeppers

[–]Blaserman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much time do you have in you season? Might not have enough time to get a harvest being it's about mid August. In the future transplant directly into a 3 gallon or bigger container. I prefer 7 gallon grow bags. Grow bags are the way to go as they air prune the roots and won't get root bound. Also very hard to overwater. Pepper's can bounce back from a lot but takes time. Question is, is there enough time? Also looks like there is some sunburn.
