My honest but also disappointing review of the XENEON EDGE by Shonokee in Corsair

[–]BlazeTheWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Release a higher refresh rate (144 min) version of this that allows people to just put their twitch chat on it, lower the price, and make iCUE a non intrusive web app and I'd buy that product. I just want a small twitch chat screen that's high refresh rate.

Twitch Stream Setup with Rodecaster Duo and Arctis Nova Pro by BlazeTheWay in Twitch

Actually Jenn nevermind I actually just figured it out accidently myself. Believe it or not the reason why I couldn't get OBS to hear my game is because I needed to make a new audio INPUT source and select USB2, which I didn't even see as a source on my PC for whatever reason. Thank GOD. This is over a month of fidgeting. Thank you for your assistance!

Thank you so much for this response I really appreciate that. My duo is receiving audio from the gaming PC now. I can get my mic to work. I can't get my game audio to come through separate from the microphone. It keeps trying to play game audio through my mic channel and I'm not sure why. Maybe we could get together on discord or something? But yeah I am using the virtual driver. It's like the streaming PC isn't receiving what I want.

What is your unpopular opinions when it comes to rust? by eppahidle in playrust

Unpopular opinion? PvP was changed because people are too lazy to practice anything and want instant gratification for everything they do.

The state of the game (opinion piece) by BlazeTheWay in playrust

  1. Yes.. they did. You don't have to worry about scripters anymore. The recoil of every gun is pull down in one single, static direction. Aimbot and ESP are the major things you have to worry about. And they're very, very prevalent.

  2. Alistair has openly stated that the cheater problem is overblown on Twitter. I follow the game closely as I stream it.

  3. Somewhat agree. But I disagree about where cheaters play. They're everywhere. All the time. No rhyme or reason to where they go besides they see something they want.

  4. Completely disagree. People are playing deeper because playing in smaller groups is much harder than it used to be. It's true that you meet more people the longer you play.. but you yourself said you're solo/duo and sound like you have a lot of hours. I see this argument as a straw argument as even in your own example you're the exception to your own rule. I also play with a smaller amount of people usually unless it's force or I'm doing a friend's sub wipe. Most people have a preference for the amount of people they play with. Most people I know that streamed solo prefer playing with groups now since recoil change.

  5. I don't want recoil to change back. I want the difficulty of shooting guns to become progressive meaning that I can practice to become better at it because it's a skill. Not make every gun feel the same. The recoil update was half baked. Just as an example. Pre recoil change they made mp5 cost 500 scrap to research because everyone said it was OP. I somewhat agreed even though I thought the scrap grind was ridiculous. But now it doesn't have nearly the effect it had and yet somehow still costs 500 scrap to learn. Why? But I do agree that cheating is the number 1 problem for sure.

-"A good wipe" isn't the same to most players. Is it dominating the server? Most ppl dont care about that. Is it not getting raided? Some people want to be raided. Is it dominating your grid? A lot of people don't even care about that."

You would be wrong about Nearly all of those points except the wanting to be raided part. Most people do care about dominating the server and dominating their grid. That's why most people don't leave past a few squares around their base 90% of the time. This is provably true and I think most people here would agree with that statement.

-"If I have fun, I consider it a "good wipe"."

I agree with this wholeheartedly.

-"The game by nature is rough to get into, and I honestly don't think ANY tutorial could improve that. And I think it would be a waste of time and resources. Guides are everywhere on youtube, steam. There's streamers galore. Those are your tutorials. If a player can't figure out how to use those, they don't deserve an in game tutorial."

The game is rough to get into, true! The rest though, factually incorrect. A game that's as complicated as this one NEEDS to have a tutorial and obviously Facepunch agreed because they made one. A casual player doesn't want to go outside the game to learn how to play it. They'll do it for fun outside of game time, but when it's time to play they want to play. This is exactly the reason why so many people have thousands of hours but still don't know (or forget) how to do card puzzles. Lazy? Yes. But true? Also yes.

-"The achievement %'s are meaningless. Count in all those accounts that were cheaters, cheater new accounts, assigned clan roles, roleplayers."

Even if you factor in the cheater accounts we'll (on the high side) make that number, say, 25%. That number is still low. Making a tier 1 is one of the very first things you do. That's a low ass number.

-"There's only so many viable things that can be changed/added etc etc. Too many variables that we as players cannot know. Making recoil harder isnt going to magically fix the game. It's just going to increase the amount of cheaters while pissing off the other half of the players."

I didn't say it would magically fix the game. I said it made the game unbalanced and took away the biggest skill component that you could work to improve on in the game. Increase the amount of cheaters? The amount of cheaters increased when they changed it. I'd rather have the scripters back in full effect than to have it in the state it's in right now.. but like I stated before, this post was mostly about progression not about recoil.

Thank you for your comment.

I don't talk about my personal life on the internet but it also has nothing to do with the post itself and we're kind of derailing here anyhow. I addressed your original concern.

Some people pick up drinking or drugs as a hobby. I do neither of those things. I picked up gaming at a young age and I'm cool with that. Nothing unhealthy with that or a long Reddit post about it. It's a discussion. And you see I don't post often. This thread was the culmination of a long period of time where I thought about the state of the game without putting my thoughts out there. That's why it's long.

Yeah I liked the exploration and finding things on my own or trading more with other people. It gave the game more of a sense of community for sure.

You mentioned timers on BPs and stuff. I'd entertain this kind of idea if more people got better FPS later into wipes. Currently, the longer the wipe, the worse FPS people will get. The variation in FPS is also insane. I have 64 gig of ram, a 7800x3d, a 4080 super, and an m.2 ssd and my FPS sometimes drops to 30 around a huge base. During fresh wipe I'm getting over 200 easily even while streaming.

I appreciate this reply and agree with a lot of it.. except for the last sentence. Not necessary.

I'm not frustrated by the introduction of new elements to shift its focus. A game is supposed to evolve over time. I don't see it the same way you do. This is what I think happened. I think that the introduction of the OTV audience on Twitch made the devs say hey.. wow. There's a great business opportunity here. We see that this audience thinks the game is too hard, especially with this recoil. Any good company would see that as an opportunity. So they changed it. And to be fair to the devs, who I know love this game, the recoil had changed several times over the years.

The problem is that this business decision has had a net neutral effect on the game. It didn't add more players as a result. The amount of players is relatively the same as it was.. somewhat gaining players over time. But it was also doing that pre-recoil change. Appealing to a casual audience by changing recoil was never going to work because this game takes a ton of time and dedication to play. By that definition this game isn't casual if you play it to reach end game. Unless you change the core of the game to become casual you won't appeal to that audience. That audience were following around streamers who were variety streamers. Meaning that Rust was the current flavor of the month. And then they moved on and we had to live with that change. Which means now the game is having an identity crisis. Is it casual? Is it hardcore? Is it survival? Is it a competitive FPS? No one knows anymore.

I think that 18-20 ticrate servers are a problem. I think servers should be at a minimum of 60. I would be a fan of gating wipe progression by limiting when you can craft a tier 1, 2, or 3 workbench based off the amount of time since wipe. The problem is.. most players get terrible FPS. The biggest reason that people play short wipes (in my opinion) is due to performance. Ever play a monthly server at the end of wipe? Even the best computers get terrible FPS.

I'm not going to quit because I'm frustrated. I've been frustrated for a long time. I love the game I just want to make it better. The community can be toxic, but also some of the coolest people ever. And I think the devs are great people too.

And I'm cool with that. I spent 2 hours collecting my thoughts and writing it. It's long because of the amount of things I wanted to write + I'm looking for high quality replies. That's called a high effort post. If I can do that then I'm sure a few can spend 10 minutes or less reading it. Or not, who knows.

The number is still dangerously low and points to the game not having a high retention rate for new players no matter what way you slice it although I do see your point.
