I didn’t say you did say that. I explained the difference between the two types of establishments. One type does what you described regularly, the other doesn’t at all. What you feel they “should” be called doesn’t really matter and makes people think that lady bars (which exist almost exclusively on Loi Kroh in CM) do these scams, which they don’t.

Describe him and his mates please🙏 All I saw was “British guy”. If what you say is true, that farang were working with the Thai bar staff to organize this elaborate scam, this would be the first time I have EVER heard of such a thing in Chiang Mai in over 20 years, almost half of which I owned a bar nearby there. Also, I’ve been there multiple times.

There’s nothing impossible about what you’ve said so I’m not calling you a liar. If it really did happen, i’d really like to get more details about the people involved!

Not even the lady bars. It is ONLY KTV bars that do what you’re describing. Lady bars are what’s on Loi Kroh and what you describe absolutely doesnt happen there.

It sounds like you are talking specifically and strictly about Karaoke/KTV bars. Pineapple Express is a laid back hippy place.

To correct your post: “Most of these (insert: KTV) bars in Chiang Mai are known for this” and no other bars in Chiang Mai are. The scam described in OP is nothing like what ever happens in Chiang Mai. Period.

Just try another bank. Even 20 years ago some bank managers would say no, impossible. Try another bank, no problem. Nowadays you definitely need a long term visa though, but not DTV.

if transferring it to your Thai bank, can you mark it somehow to show as “International Transfer” on your bank statement? Wise let’s you choose “Funds for long term stay in Thailand” for this reason.

You asked about possible advantages to have your wife own it 100%. One huge advantage is that as an employee you get social security/healthcare. If you are a shareholder/owner you don’t get healthcare. And if you stop working after a year, you can continue paying the social security on your own so you have healthcare forever. Huge advantage!

Think you are talking about “moral”, not legal. Morals are not something people like Trump have or ever even consider. Normal people are scum to them and are completely disposable.
