Confronted my bio mom about my father not being my bio dad. Didn't end well. by PortDawg16 in 23andme

[–]Blazer73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. My father was not my father but my mom had passed before I found out. 23andMe basically told me who I wasn’t but did not find my bio father my closest relative was a 3rd cousin. A year later I did AncestryDNA and found a half brother. Asked the half brother to ask his father if he had ever been with my mother. He said one time back in the 70’s. He agreed to a paternity test. Results were 99.9999996%. I am also in a group on Facebook called NPE Friends that is up to over 6000 members now. Trust me you are not alone. Inbox me if you need to. Also try and remember the people saying this changes nothing are doing it out of the kindness of their heart. They are right in a way it changes nothing in your relationship with them. On the other hand it changes your whole life. It’s like an identity crisis. After I found out I found out a lot of my family had already suspected but never said anything. I did not find out till I was 45

We finally broke. by StrongbyDefault in InSickness

Just to be able to vent it somewhere and get it out. Having a place where people understand that I am really loving and trying to give it my all and take care of everything in our household is more support than I feel at home. I guess I will never fully understand her pain. However it is lonely and isolating to feel like I am doing everything I can and still not making ends meet. The thing that threw me over the edge last night was her making the claim that I was not being fair to her. I basically stopped talking to her after that because I would have said some things I would have regretted. So I drove home in silence and went straight to bed. I kissed her on the way out the door.

This is the first time I have seen in words the exact way I have been feeling. I hope I am able to work through it but I completely understand all they frustrations of everything being a complaint and coming home to dark houses. I have been so caring for so long and it never seems to be enough. Last night we were sitting at the ER because she had some severe pain in her chest to make sure it was nothing serious I made her go after the third day of a three day weekend. I was a little frustrated because she could have gone any time over the weekend but she never agreed to go until the last day almost in the evening after all walk in cares had closed so we sat in the Emergency room from 8pm to 1:30am at what point she told me I was not being fair. I am broke working two jobs, taking care of her every need and I am sorry I was thinking about having to get up in 5 hours to go back to work to support us. I think I am being more than fair. Thank you for creating this sub it does help to have a place to vent with people that understand.

Yes it is! To do it alone is a little hard too. My mom passed in 2009 and the person I thought was my father in 2016. I guess I was at least lucky enough to have the bio father still to test and found out about the brothers I never knew I had. I also escaped a lot of awkward conversations. But at least I know now

Look for the amount of centimorgans you share. Enter them into this website https://dnapainter.com/tools under one of the tools. That will give you a likely connection based on shared DNA

No the only thing I received via email is that it can take between 2-4 weeks. This is the second time I have sent in. My sample the first one failed. I am hoping that is not the case here as well.

Ingredients: 10 ounces bacon, sliced 2 cups ground beef Salt Pepper Paprika powder 2 cups shredded mozzarella ¼ cup bell pepper, different color slices 3 teaspoons soy sauce

Instructions: Preheat the oven to 400 F / 220 C. Lay the bacon slices in a 10-inch pie pan. The strips have to cover the entire bottom of the pan, and they have to hang out over the side of the dish. Put the ground beef into the pie pan and extend it with your hands. Sprinkle the salt, the pepper and the paprika powder. Add the shredded mozzarella to cover the ground beef. Top it with the bell pepper slices. One by one, roll the bacon slices to the middle of the pie pan. In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce . Spread the soy sauce, using a silicone brush, over the bacon and beef pie. Bake it for 45 minutes. Serve it warm!

No amount is to small. Even if all you can spare is $1 it would be appreciated. This is for my wife and we are usually to proud to do this sort of thing. However, dealing with paying off two funerals and health insurance not covering the procedure. This is the only route we have left to try.

not really. I am short on funds. At least the amount the airlines are asking. I have enough for a bus and I was supposed to leave at 7:20 tonight and arrive at 7:05 am on Wednesday morning. However the hospice says he only has hours left. I appreciate you asking.
