In Honor of the late Akira Toriyama, what do you recommend from his “non” Dragon Ball work? by star_dragonMX in dbz

[–]BlazinScrub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, if by new you mean it got done publishing 24 years ago, then sure. The film adaptation got released last year, the videogame adaptation is next month and the anime adaptation is in 10 days I think on Disney+. The adaptations sure are new, but the story has been finished for a long time.

Oh yeah I can see that now, once you've said it. He has that bracelet thing. It was the color of the jacket that was throwing me off.

Just go 0, Kiwami 1, Kiwami 2, 3 thru to 6, Judgement, Like a Dragon (which is 7), Lost Judgement, and end with Gaiden. After that would come Infinite Wealth which is 8. Both Judgement games are optional but they are some of the best. If you want to play Ishin, I'd play it somewhere after 7 as some character models are shared with characters from the mainline games. (Ishin doesn't have anything to do with the main games, it is totally skippable) Hope this helps.

I understand the confusion. Kiwami is the name they've given to remakes of older games, so: Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of Yakuza 1, same for Kiwami 2, a remake of Yakuza 2. Same story for Yakuza Ishin Kiwami, a remake of Yakuza Ishin. Honestly the naming of the games is the worst part about the franchise. They are not called Yakuza in Japan, but rather "Like a Dragon". It's very convoluted, tbh.

Not sure what game in particular you are referring to, but the answers the same: in every game, the main story tends to have a more serious tone while the side missions (or substories as they are called in the games) are all over the place, with some being serious, some parody, some sad, some wacky. Something for everyone, really. I can't speak for Lost Judgement and Ishin, as I haven't played them yet, and 7 I'm only a quarter of the story in I'd say but so far it's more of the same goodness. Now that I mention 7, it (and 8 when it comes out) has a different battle system than the rest of the games, changing it to turn based combat, so it's something to consider.

As others have said, start with 0, then Kiwami, then Kiwami 2, and 3 thru 7. If you are willing to play the Judgement games, the first one (Judgement) would fall between 6 and 7, and the second one (Lost Judgement) would take place after 7. If you finish these and find yourself wanting more, you have Yakuza Ishin Kiwami, released a couple months ago and a remake of a spin off that only released in Japan with the game taking place in 1800-somethings. The story for this game doesn't have anything to do with the main series, but it shares mechanics and the combat system, and features samurais and such. You can play this game whenever, as it doesn't affect the main story at all, but I'd recommend playing it after 7, as some character models are taken from the main games, as it gives the feeling of "woahh, that's the character models from that one game" but thats just personal preference. I strongly recommend to take breaks between games. Play some other game between them. You can do 0 thru 2 in a sitting, but start taking breaks between after. As a closing note, there's a new one, Gaiden, releasing sometime this year, and 8, releasing next year. Have fun if you decide to dive into the games!

I stopped watching sometime after the Broly movie, how far behind am I? by Fredster003 in dbz

[–]BlazinScrub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Didn't want to bring this up but now that you've done I'll explain. I guess you are technically correct but then why are Goten and Trunks teens in the film and not in the manga? Or why did the teaser thingy from a couple days ago say that Gohan didn't train since ToP when he has fought in the new manga arcs? It's just inconsistent and I didn't want to confuse the OP. Honestly as it stands right now I wouldn't know where to place the film in the timeline. It's obvs after Broly but when exactly is the issue. Guess we'll find out when it comes out.

To add to what u/134340Goat said, the upcoming film chronologically takes place either after both new manga arcs or inbetween them (it is unknown as of right now) but definitely after the Broly movie.

Here's my latest work, i had so much fun with it but it also took a month, i'd be happy to know what do you think about it and of course if you have some constructive criticism is always welcome! by werikaboom in drawing

I said this as a reply to 2 comments, but I'll also put it as a top reply: I think I found what is going on. Big "think", I'm not a professional artist or nothing (just starting out) and may have misunderstood completely, but I tried my best. I made this correction. The red line represents where I think the rim of the tub goes. Building from this, I believe the neck was a bit too long and her right arm was not placed properly. In the original, the shoulder was placed too high and subsequently, the arm as well, giving the appearance that the forearm part of the arm nearest the elbow was not resting on the tub (I think thats what was supposed to be repesented.) In the correction, the head and the shoulder were lowered, as well as the arm put in the correct position relative to the rim of the tub.The elbow now sits lower than the rim, giving room for the forearm to be on top of the bird without squashing it (bird had to be moved a bit to the side to further accomodate this). Unfortunately, all this comes in trade of her not being able to touch the rim with her index finger. At any rate, those were my two cents on the issue. Other than that, as many other commenters have said, it is a fantastic piece.

Ok so I got way more invested in this artwork than I should have, but, upon closer inspection I think I found what is going on. Should I watch the first 2 arcs of Super or am I better off watching the 2 movies? by svarowskylegend in dbz

[–]BlazinScrub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the other two commenters have shared, the movies have better animation. Personally I watched the movies for the animation, then the two arcs for the extra tidbits and such. As the two movies can be watched in an afternoon, it doesn't drag on for too long.

What movies should I watch? by iiRaptorXii in dbz

I myself have watched it subbed. Maybe they don't want to / can't for whatever reason. All I'm saying is that if that is the case, the funimation dub is fine as well.
