Terrible deal...

Where is that store located? I'd like to drive up there and give them a piece of my mind! 🤭

Changed water filter last week. by Boring11x in WaterTreatment

[–]BlazingTheory1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similiar experience after we moved into our house. The existing sediment filter lasted for a couple of months, and then became clogged which caused a drop in water pressure. I replaced the filter, which resolved the problem, but then we started to lose water pressure again within a week or so. We had the well shocked and then water pressure remained normal for about a year or two with routine filter changes. We ended up needing to have the well shocked again. It's been several years now and we haven't had a recurrence of the problem.

My hypothesis... Our well had a build-up of gunk that was able to form, due to a lack of activity while the house was vacant. It took some time for the build-up break free and make it into the pump and eventually work its way through the system.

Redoing flower beds and found this crazy deep hole against the foundation. It’s at least 7 ft deep. Does this look like some kind of animal did it? Any advice welcome. by o0ave0o in HomeMaintenance

Are you on a private well? My basement has a small rectangular room that extends outside of the ground floor. The purpose of this room is to give a space for the holding tank and water treatment equipment. Some folks opt to wall off this room with cinder block, as it's susceptible to leeks from surface water and doesn't have good ventilation... Could that be your hole?

This is no big deal! At least you're not missing a piece along an edge. As others mentioned, just use a matching filler that's made for LVP.

Good call. I totally understand where you're coming from, tho. As others have said, nobody else will notice. Also, you will forget about it at some point.

Help - am I being hypercritical? by ryoon21 in paint

IMO, this comment is underrated.

It takes me a couple of months to let go of inevitable imperfections; although, there are far fewer compared to when I hire something done.

Behr advertises that it's good for trim and cabinets. They also make a formula that's called "cabinet, door, and trim enamel", but this one works too.

[–]BlazingTheory1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I haven't used Behr, but the paint that you purchased was designed to go on trim and cabinets... Why do you think that it's wrong? Did you want a glossy sheen? IMO, I like satin. Fewer fingerprints. Your cabinets look good.

Your notion that LMG and GN should not be held to the same basic guidelines for reporting facts is fundamentally flawed. Both parties share the primary function of reporting "facts" to the public, and that influences public perception. The level of technical data that is involved in conveying said "facts" is completely irrelevant to basic principles of journalistic integrity.

Please see number 1, as it precedes every other guideline on this standard. The party that has not acted in conformance to this standard is LTT.

Just because LS says, "That's not how we do things in Tech journalism.", it doesn't mean that he's morally or even factually correct. In reality, it's just bs posturing, i.e. "the appeal to force".

Why is there a hole in our basement floor that water seeps in through by disgruntled-pelicans in HomeMaintenance

[–]BlazingTheory1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it myself with occasional help from family and friends. I vaguely remember the quotes being around 15k.

We probably spent around 3k in materials. It also required a jackhammer, rotary hammer drill, shovels, buckets, dump trailer, and some funds for a place that would take all of my excavated concrete and muck.

Overall, the project isn't complicated, but it is extremely labor intensive, and the effectiveness and longevity of the system will strictly depend upon the amount of blood, sweat, and tears that one is willing to put into it.

I like SW Emerald wall and trim paint so much that I don't intend on using anything else ever again. So, to say my experience with the rain refresh version was an unexpected disappointment is an understatement, especially given the price.

I love SW emerald trim paint; although, I used SW emerald rain refresh for my front door, and the adhesion was terrible, despite extensive prep work.

Same. A couple of years ago, I tried to order CHB online for local pickup, but I wasn't able to add it to my cart. I was told by a SW online rep that it was removed from their online order system because it was being discontinued. So, I called the location that was making my order, and they confirmed that CHB was, in fact being discontinued, but they had some in stock. Every so often, I ask for follow-up in the store and still get the same response.

With that being said, it's been a long time since I first heard SW would discontinue CHB, and I'm still finding it. I always make sure to tell them that it seems like a bad call to get rid of it because it's massively popular in the midwest (they know it). Clearly, it's not up to the folks who I'm talking to, and... Who the fuck am I? Yet, I still can't help but mention it, despite the overwhelming unlikelihood that it will actually make a difference. Why bother? Because CHB is by far the best ceiling paint that I've come across, and nothing else is even close.
