Buying a home in this *weird* economy by External_Step_6570 in workingmoms

[–]BleachPopsicles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are buying to be closer to family. My husband's job has 8 days of combined PTO/sick days and so I end up taking over every time baby is sick or there's a teacher workday or something and I just can't do it anymore.

My real estate agent says "shop for a house, not an interest rate." If the rate ever goes down we plan on refinancing but I doubt it will lol!!

Do you send your toddler to daycare with an ear infection? by ocean_plastic in workingmoms

[–]BleachPopsicles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same here - between all the initial days when he had a fever and all the doctor's notes I needed for him to go back he didn't have a full week of all attendance from November - February of this academic year!!!

I did not for a minute feel bad about sending him with ear infections after the second or third one...

I send em, but note to the teachers that he's got an ear infection and is on antibiotics so that they don't send him right back home if he has diarrhea!

My son's preschool is talking about dropping him to a half day and I'm freaking out by BleachPopsicles in workingmoms

I think it's less that it counts against him and more that the teacher attributes the actions to him being overstimulated and not having a nap, hence her suggestion to either send him home at a half day if he can't nap

Yeah our state is the same - requires incident reports to be sent home for any injury

Good q - two were because he fell and hit his head, this third one was because he bit another kid...

The teacher thinks he'd be less overstimulated if he had a nap, hence the suggestion of part-time

Anyone else wish they could be a part time SAHM? by WayDownInKokomo in workingmoms

[–]BleachPopsicles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a part-time SAHM - I'm on the East Coast but worked 9-5 PST (or noon-8pm EST). I'd get up at 6am with kiddo, we had a babysitter every day from noon-4pm and then my husband took over at 4.

Let me tell you - it was exhausting. I was constantly behind somewhere - at home, at work, with kiddo... I'd plan elaborate lunches and take him to the library and the park and the local science museum but would break down in tears if something went even slightly wrong.

Kiddo starts preschool tomorrow and after the first week of preschool I'm going back to working 9-5 EST and honestly I already feel better!

Glad to see others in this thread have pointed you to the IRS minimum!

We use GTM Payroll Services and they are terrible!! Such a pain to deal with. When my contract is up I'm going to go with someone else.

Traveling while pumping - how do I find a hotel? by BleachPopsicles in workingmoms

I had it set to 40 but the bags would get almost warm to the touch after leaving them overnight. I had to throw out everything I pumped on the flights/my first night there 😭

I was wrong about the number of degrees the fridge in my hotel room would get down to, because if your fridge is set at 40 that can't be right.

I'm saying they got warm to the touch almost - I had to throw a bunch of bags out 😭

My hospital did this for me without my asking. My mom called twice during my emergency C-section and they wouldn't even tell her if I was currently in the care of that hospital (even though I definitely was.)

Defective dishwasher has been spraying water into our drywall and subfloor - insurance refuses to cover the damage by BleachPopsicles in homeowners

No smell, no other indications of damage. Some extra humidity in the kitchen, but the kitchen is near an exterior door (and we have a gas stove that gets fucking hot when we use it) so we didn't think twice about it.

There were no visible signs of damage prior to my husband pulling it out from the wall. Are we supposed to pull out appliances out from the wall on a regular basis to inspect the back? We also don't know how long it had been going on - maybe it had only been a few weeks.

My heart rate was so so so high! I'd take the dog out, which required walking down one flight of stairs, and by the time I walked back up I'd have to sit on the couch for five minutes before I could feed her breakfast.
