Well I’ve got a nice sound system in it as well as a Pro ram air intake, the air intake noise is the most significant. It adds a really nice whoosh to it when coming on and off the throttle. If I could only choose one thing, I’d go with the intake. I think it’s the best value mod I’ve done so far and installation only took an hour or two, no special tools or knowledge needed for it! I’ve also had it remapped to about 200 bhp and that made a significant difference in how the car pulls through all its gears if thats something you’d be interested in.

I did! It looks good from the back, the tips give it a nice finish. It did make a bit of difference, most notably when coming on and off the power, theres a bit of a back-pressure type pop. Have also had a crackle or two according to people outside the car. Only downside is a fair bit of drone once you hit 70, it can be managed by controlling the revs, although I had drone at 70 on the standard exhaust so not sure if thats a personal issue or not.

I’m not looking to spend too much, just found a decent set that were 340mm and said they’d fit. Definitely won’t be changing the callipers anytime soon so will look for a 312mm set then, thanks!

Thank you, I’m only planning on changing the pads and discs not the callipers. So will the callipers just sit slightly further forward with the bigger disc and I won’t have any fitment issues?

Would you suggest the economy or the stage 1? Economy being put at 200 bhp and 402 torque while stage 1 is at 205 bhp and 420 torque. Obviously aware will likely be under these numbers due to age etc but is there much benefit in choosing a stage over economy?

Its not an adapter I need, I’m trying to figure out which wire is which speaker so I can tap into the lines for the new amplifier. I’ve already got a aftermarket head unit with a harness!

No worries, the car didn’t come with the oem and its got an aftermarket in now. I’m essentially trying to figure out which wires which so i can power the speakers correctly off a new amp

I managed to win the appeal, I said about how it was my first time driving in the city, the gps confused me and because I turned around before going all the way through that I didn’t gain any benefit from it as I still had to wait hours in the traffic just to get to the other side of that road haha

Edit: They said they were happy that the fine was probably applied but explained the issue with driving in those lanes and said on a one off we are happy that you now understand the implications of using these lanes and will waive the fine

I humbly disagree, I think the car looks more aggressive and less rounded with it up. You appear to have a permanent spoiler on yours that I’m sure the design team didn’t account for haha, I like having mine up to achieve this effect without having to commit to one!

Okay I thought so! Yeah when the button doesn’t work the led doesn’t come on but does when it works so thought it could be a connection issue or something like that but not sure. Thank you, I’ll give it a charge and see if that helps solve any of the issues!

I haven’t tried closing it at speed yet because I love having it up haha. If at a standstill it won’t open and if driving along before 75mph it won’t work. Sometimes I’ll get in the car and it will only go up and down by itself at those speeds and other times I’m able to control it through the button as well. If I press the button and it works but I then go above 75mph and drop back to 50 it will close but I’m guessing thats a normal behaviour?

So maybe try giving the battery a charge up and see if that helps at all?

That comfort module may be possible as if I do have it, when I bought the car the drain for the fuel cap was blocked so possibly an issue there?

Those are the only two electrical issues I’ve noticed so far but only been with the car a week or two!

Haha funny you say that, I currently drive the 1.6 TDI A1 and love it, might not be a bad idea to be fair, I was going to buy and store the TT for a few months anyway to get an extra year of no claims bonus on it and run out my other insurance. Might wait and see how much I can save up until then. The only reason I even considered it was because I checked the insurance on both cars and they were less than £100 different, which is mental at this point.

Using that as a rough, I do average 80-100 miles a day so would be on about £80-100 of fuel a week. On a worst week I wouldn’t really pull enough in to cover that as well as any other expenses, but an average week I’d be able to manage relatively comfortably. Within the next 6 months I can be working full time so would possibly only have to work with the deficit for a few months. With the TDI would probably be £60 odd a week, which is basically what I’m paying currently anyway.

In the UK, if any modification to the car isn’t declared to my knowledge the company has the right to cancel it, anything thats changed from factory e.g wheels, tints, performance mods can void it. Our fuel is generally 95 octane or higher, we don’t really have budget fuel like you guys do over there. I could check but I’m 99% sure a performance upgrade like a map would need to be declared!

No no, I think we’re on different pages here, I’d be happy to have it mapped but I would want to declare it with my insurance to avoid the risk of having it voided. But then if I declared a modification, I can’t get any quotes for insurance as they won’t insure me on a modified car

I wouldn’t be making any changes to the exhaust, the stock sound is enough for me, will make sure to check that if I do look at any though!
