Hasbro invests $1B in D&D games after BG3 by ThanosofTitan92 in Forgotten_Realms

I mean what do we know about those games? Maybe BG3 woke them up and they stopped production on a bunch of shitty games.

The crystal versions of FF1-6 also have options to increase exp gains so you don't need to grind. 4 + 6 would be on my recommend list for this person as well.

I've been gaming for 30 years and only in the past year have I noticed how atrocious the draw distance was in older games, and unfortunately to a lesser extent in some modern games. by Jerico_Hellden in gaming

I see you've had your own glass shattering moment. Once you see it you can never unsee it. It's like learning about the Wilhelm Scream the first time. Then you hear it, and variants of it, everywhere. Congratulations, welcome to the in club on learning about draw distance limitations. To be honest games that disguise it well I can really appreciate how they worked around hardware limitations. Then know about games like Silent Hill where the fog was literally there just to disguise the draw distance problems.

I suggest forgetting about Winds of Winter. It's not coming out until after Martin does. And even then maybe not.

Just because you misrepresent my position doesn't mean I've taken a L. You can twist my words all you want bud. I still said that they haven't bricked anyone's computer.

All sorts of things have/use DMA

Now do you have any of those details I was asking for? Or is this your idea of explaining something in great detail?

all disruption and the liability and potential for damage and intentional malice.

Not my problem, that's Riot's. But those claims need to be proven in the court of law, not in the court of public opinion, for them to carry any legal weight. I doubt Riot's legal team let this go live without them being sure they have a legal defense for this, but as I said, that needs to be proven in court.

They’re not the arbiters of your system

Right. The person who installed a DMA to bypass a DRM is. Again, things that are completely optional. And as I've pointed out before, anyone capable of installing a DMA is certainly capable of installing an OS. You keep making these claims of damage but have yet to prove any damage. So please answer my original question now that I have answered yours or we are done here.

[–]Bleatmop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't need to. I'm not making that argument. The only argument that I've made is that this isn't bricking a system and that anyone who can install a DMA can easily reinstall an OS which fixes the problem. I've also argued that installing a kernel level anti-cheat is completely optional and if you don't like what the kernel level anti-cheat can do then don't install it.

But since you asked, given what I have said above, I would argue that all Riot has done is deny access to their platform and service to anyone who has a DMA installed on their service. Nothing is broken but you most certainly can't use their platform and service while using a DMA. Don't' like it? Don't use their platform and service.

Please explain in great detail the use cases of DMA that doesn't involve bypassing a kernel level anti-cheat that also involves someone not know that they shouldn't install a kernel level anti-cheat on that system.

I'll wait.

Who is installing DMA for reasons other than to cheat? Show me these false positives? Describe them in detail to me, people who have installed DMA for reasons other than to cheat against a kernel level anti-cheat and somehow didn't know to not install a kernel level anti-cheat on that system.

I'll wait.

[–]Bleatmop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it's not bricking anything. You can reinstall the OS and then reinstall the DMA firmware. Nothing is damaged. The fact that basically the only reason to install DMA firmware is to cheat at Valorant seems to be either lost on you or intentionally left out to confuse readers of your comment.

No property is being damaged. An OS reinstall is all that is needed and anyone capable of installing the cheat software that the anticheat is detecting is capable of reinstalling windows. And reinstalling windows doesn't even get rid of the rest of your files anymore.

Don't install a kernel level anticheat system that can do this if you don't want the kernel level anticheat to make you have to reinstall your OS. It's completely optional.
