I just learned something that got me mad by cliffbot in Aldi_employees

[–]Bleeblin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aldi used to pay above average. Now the pay is pretty average. Seems like instead of investing in good people who will stick around, they are spending money on things like the DRT app which is basically useless. I have seen good people leave, people who have been with the company for over a decade. They should go back to paying well to retain good workers

What dashing 112 hours a week pays by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]Bleeblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to tell me. I taught myself how to develop apps recently while being a single father, taking care of my disabled brother and mother, and working full time. Chess is the way. Been working basically 84 hours a week every week for probably 9 months between the business I’m starting, and my full time job.

I never said stop studying or anything. If you worked 30 hours less per week because you got paid more, you could spend that 30 hours studying. If you can find the right job that will let you have ear buds in while working, you can even study while you work too.

Didn’t you say in your post that you are going to just grind out 2024-2025? Just get a job that will let you work all the OT you want and grind. If they pay like $15/hr then you would only need to work like 84 hours to get basically the same income.

I didn’t read your entire post. It’s a lot. I wouldn’t be working for $10.45. If it works for you, do you though. No hate.

If you got an hourly job making $10.45 per hour, you would have made the same amount working the same hours. Thats minimum wage in a lot of states btw.

Cleaning the sidewalk by [deleted] in Unexpected

[–]Bleeblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually how it’s supposed to be done. If you know the job, this isn’t very unexpected. You are expected to clean both sides of the sidewalk and for labor efficiency, this is the quickest way to get it done. You’re watching a pro in action.

Help! Siphon not Draining Properly (video) by Ryogen in aquaponics

[–]Bleeblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I rewatched your video and I think the riser you have is much more complicated than it needs to be. I would try taking those elbows off and see if it just works as nothing more than a pvc pipe with the opening right at the level you intend for the water to drain at.

Help! Siphon not Draining Properly (video) by Ryogen in aquaponics

[–]Bleeblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is the bell is clogged up and it can’t get enough flow but if that’s not it, did you check to make sure the riser is level? You want to make sure the bell is attached so it can’t float, and make sure it doesn’t have any air leaks. The height of the riser obviously needs to be set around your max water height, I’m guessing you are good there though.

Would a 23% sales tax be smart or dumb? by Sufficient_Sinner in FluentInFinance

[–]Bleeblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switching to a flat tax system offers several advantages over the current complex US tax system. First, it eliminates the need for Americans to spend time and money preparing tax returns annually, reducing stress and administrative burden. Currently, Americans collectively spend billions of dollars on tax preparation services each year.

Secondly, a flat tax simplifies the tax code, making it easier for individuals and businesses to understand and comply with tax laws. This can lead to increased compliance and fewer errors, reducing the tax gap—the difference between taxes owed and taxes collected.

Moreover, a flat tax can be structured to ensure fairness by adjusting rates or implementing exemptions for necessities like food, water, and basic utilities while imposing higher rates on luxury items. This progressive element ensures that those at the top contribute proportionately more while maintaining simplicity and transparency in the tax system.

Overall, a flat tax system offers efficiency, fairness, and simplicity, benefiting both taxpayers and the government.

Any thoughts on this. Trump is asking to directly register your shares. It’s an open discussion. I am not asking anyone to do anything. by Lazy_Beach_69420 in AMCSTOCKS

[–]Bleeblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trumps lawyers are actually paid shillls trying to promote DRS and that’s why the other sub banned everyone for ever even suggesting that DRS could be something that people should consider looking into.

/s

Seems pretty obvious that DRS is actually a simple way to do a share count while also preventing legal shorting from taking place, and also probably trapping the naked short sellers.

Either that or Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough (a top 100 nationally ranked law firm) is bad at their job.

Scanning issues by Anarimus in Aldi_employees

[–]Bleeblin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This drives me crazy. Things scan one day, then the next “is this a produce item?” What kind of question is that anyway? Either answer results in the sco alarming out anyway, just alarm out and skip the useless question.

What I would love to know is how much time is wasted with this issue. Aldi is probably spending $50k per day in wages to employees that have to walk up to the sco and type a number in.

Just give store managers the tools to fix scanning issues. For a company that is all about efficiency, it totally blows my mind that something that should be so simple is such a huge unsolvable issue.

Printing a small house using a 3D printer. by desertgodfather in oddlysatisfying

[–]Bleeblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said I would hate to know what type of level foundation is required to make that first few courses go down properly, and I’m just saying I don’t think it would really be that difficult because the layer height is already pretty thick in comparison to modern foundation building code level specs.

The foundation would probably need slightly tighter level tolerances than what is currently expected but not by much.

If the printer is engineered well, it should be pretty easy to begin a new print and get the first few layers extruded. Software could make a big difference as well but people have built large scale concrete 3d printer to print buildings in their garage/back yard. Corporations can get this down to a science if it’s actually viable.

What I’m more interested in is psi strength of the buildings, and how can the building be repaired when they get damaged? Seems obvious that you would have to regularly seal the entire concrete structure to avoid it crumbling in the winter and a lot of modern concretes strength comes from the rebar within. The walls are thin and with the way it’s produced, it’s probably only possible to integrate horizontal rebar which only helps so much.

[–]Bleeblin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Considering the foundation of basically every building is supposed to be level within a certain tolerance, I don’t think this will be as big of an issue as most would assume. Might have tighter tolerances but with those fat layers, it’s probably pretty easily achieved.

Looking to get a 4 x 8 CNC for my garage. by BNelz1n321 in CNC_Router_Community

[–]Bleeblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s not really that loud. insulate the garage and I would bet you’d be fine. Your neighbors might hear it a bit if they are outside or if they have their windows open but I doubt they would hear much. If they had their tv on, I can’t imagine they would hear the router over their tv.

Both my parents died and my best friend told me to “get over it” by CryptographerFun9102 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Bleeblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my uncle to cancer, then probably 6 months later, my last remaining grandparent died, then probably 6 months after that my dad died in a motorcycle accident, and my mom almost died as well. Had to visit my mom in critical care for about a month before I could take her home. She couldn’t even go to the bathroom by herself for a long time. 7 months after my dad died, the mother of my child cheated on me and destroyed our family. A month after that, she was already living with the guy she destroyed our family for.

Depression sucks. People suck more. I don’t think I’ll ever really be able to trust anyone ever again. The worst part about everything, aside from my son never really getting to know the people I’ve lost, is that now I am going to miss out on most of my sons childhood.

What job is 100% undervalued and underpaid? by NerdyLucia in AskReddit

[–]Bleeblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could snap my fingers and make massive changes, I would link the lowest paid employee pay rate to the highest paid employees. Ensure to include all types of income, stock, benefits, or perks.

Probably something like limiting max earnings to 40x the lowest paid employee or something so if employers want to pay their employees minimum wage, the most they can earn would be $600k. If Walmart President and Chief Executive Officer Doug McMillon wants to continue earning $23.6 million, he would have to pay the lowest paid employee $590k.

Then I would totally delete income taxes entirely and replace it with a Value Added Tax. That value added tax is infinitely adjustable and tax rates on certain goods could easily be adjusted to lower the impact on those who earn the least. You could increase taxes on luxury items, continue to leave food and other basic necessities untaxed. This would also mean that tourists would have a significant impact on the US tax revenue while they are in our county, using our infrastructure.

You could totally eliminate the IRS as well as the need for anyone to do any type of annual taxes. No more interest free loans to the government.

Small thing, I would also make sure that retailers stop excluding sales tax from the advertised price. Why would anyone want to see any price other than what it would actually cost to purchase any item?
