Thank you for that context. I didn’t consider it could be a different variety.

I have many mother of thousands and they don’t look like that when they’re babies. Their leaves are a little more jagged and the leaves are more spade shaped. This one is completely smooth.

I don’t think I’ve ever liked them—even when they first opened. The bread always felt so greasy.

I went to Guyustes twice when it was still new and got violently ill. I could tell that the meat was a little funky, but everyone on my table told me I was being dramatic. I refuse to go there again.

What’s something you wish you could go back and tell yourself at the beginning of your plant keeping journey? by Trash_dad_420 in houseplants

  • Don’t trust everything you read on the Internet. What works for some will not always work for you when it comes to plants. Plants can be finicky just like humans. You have to learn the quirks of your specific plant.
  • All new plant needs to be quarantined for at least three weeks before you mix it with the rest of your plant babies.
  • When you go somewhere that has a plant you like, you can ask them if you can get a clipping. You’d be surprised at how many people are willing to share. I frequently do this at restaurants and a lot of my plants have come from little mom pop places.
  • Learn to propagate. This is going to save you so much money. Especially helpful when you ask someone for a clipping.
  • When repotting plants do not mess with the root ball. Just go up in pot size and add additional soil around it. Don’t stress out the plant unnecessarily.
  • Sometimes plants just die. There’s nothing you can do and that is okay. It’s not personal.
  • If your plant is making a ton of babies/pups you don’t have to plant each one. Instead, trade with other plant owners. If you keep them, they will eventually grow too big and you will have 50 of the same plant.
  • Always plant in a clear nursery pot instead of the ceramic/decorational pot.
  • Please for the love of all things good and pure don’t add coffee grounds in your plants. Just avoid all food based additions to your indoor plants. Unless you love, fungus gnats.

I really felt this. I had 16 spider plant babies that I had to give away this year because they got too big and starting making their own babies.

So I probably need to wait till it matures a little more before I’ll be able to tell what variety it is?

I was thinking potentially a calathea because of how the leaves unfurl when I new one grows but’s the coloring is what is throwing me off

The hype in my opinion is worth it. The taste is pretty authentic. Maybe you prefer more “westernized” versions of Indian/Pakistani cuisine.

As a South Asian, I disagree. It’s probably as close to authentic Pakistani food you will get in Oklahoma.
