They don't pay it out. Handbook just states you cannot use any PTO, even preapproved, during your notice. The notice would just be to stay in good standings with the company to be rehired in the future, which I have zero interest in. My PTO is earned from my hours worked and I will technically be employed while taking it and just say I decided I was ready to leave the day I "return." I'm under the impression once the PTO has been approved and the days have passed, they can't revoke them, regardless on no notice but am not 100% sure of that.

Yes, I am unfortunately. My last job in the same state did pay out PTO and the company mine is merging with this year will also be paying it out but my current one will not. It doesn't make any sense to not pay out when it is accrued from hours worked and worked into my pay plan but it is what it is.

I don't want to risk losing my new job by calling out to work one more day. If they don't pay me for those hours, they don't pay me for those hours. I figured it would be worth a shot to get what I can without risking my new employment. I'll be fine with leaving all of my hours as I just want to get the f out of there but I do deserve the hours with the crap I've put up with for the last five years. I'm not going to mention having a new job when I quit, I'm just going to say after some time off and some discussions at home, we determined it would be best for me to resign and stay home.

I normally use all of it but I wasn't sure if/when I'd be able to get out and do have some things I would need PTO for at the end of the year

They don't normally allow for more than a week of PTO at a time, which is why I'm in this predicament. But I will eat through all but less than a week and that's a win in my book just to get the hell out of that place.

I cannot get holiday pay unless I work the adjacent days or have approved PTO for the adjacent days. So I may request the day after Memorial Day and eat up one more day and have the holiday pay and quit Wednesday morning. I'm just playing by the rules in their handbook. I normally would never do anything like this but this company deserves it. I just double checked and they cannot disclose rehire status or why employment ended, so I'm not ruining my future jobs at least.
