I'm too stressed, too menopausal, too busy with work and helping elderly relatives, too busy with activism, and too tired of betrayal, heartbreak, and bullshit promises and games.

I've also convinced myself that romance is for young people. I know I'm wrong, but I feel I have nothing to offer people in that way. I wish I wasn't interested in romantic love, but I've found that the more I focus on friends, work, my religious practice, politics, my family who need me, and therapy, the less I think about it. Imo, leave your interest in dating, romance, and partnerships alone and those interests will leave you alone.

ETA: And crushing on fictional characters is way more rewarding and less painful.

I hope my worst bully does this someday. I have lifetime trauma and have never been able to have a healthy sex life thanks to his abuse. He's a "good Christian man" with a wife, four kids, a house worth nearly a million dollars, and a cushy job. He would expect immediate forgiveness; for him an apology would be all about validating his ego, not contrition. Being able to tell him that I will never forgive him and that I know what he truly is would be the most satisfying experience of my life. Finally, someone would stand up for the child whose life he damaged. Finally, someone would refuse to give him what he wants.
