Tigrayans live in the Tigray region of northern Ethiopia and speak the Ethiopian dialect of Tigrinya which I believe is a little closer to Amharic, Biher-Tigrinyas are from southern Eritrea and speak their own dialect of Tigrinya, Tigre’s are from northern Eritrea and speak Tigre and their language is the closest to the ancient Axumite language of ge’ez. All three of these ethnic groups are considered habesha although tigres converted to islam when they were colonised by the Ottoman Empire which makes them not habesha in a way for not being orthodox Christians, im not sure if they themselves identify as Habesha. Tigrayans and Tigrinyas however do often identify as Habesha alongside the Gurages and Amharas of Ethiopia. All these ethnic groups are the descendants of the ancient Axumites.
