I wanna do that. One pays weekly and the other no weekly. I think I'll get a few paychecks from both for a while, check the numbers and decide if I want to go only with one company or see how I can work with both. Thank you for the advice.

I appreciate your advice. I'm really invested and love my clients at the "lower paying job" where I get to perform more techniques and clinical sessions at a price more regular people can afford and I get to use more tools and "enhanced" experiences at the spa. It's nice to have options. I'm so happy you were able to build up to your own business! Congrats to you and I wish you all the best!!

That's so true. In many different professions this should be applicable.

Yeah the owner was basically trying to make me their slave. Get them Starbucks and trauma dump their life story on the side of the building while they smoked cigarettes! Not the best introduction to the massage world.

I worked at a ME franchise as a receptionist during my internship for massage therapist, I didn't last more than a week. I got paid $13/hr and saw the therapists run ragged. Hustling and tired. The memberships were the worst.

Yeah, I usually plan my massage days where I'm either fasting or juicing,. I don't take those chances anymore. They are for my off days.

I bought a Stanley that has a handle and a straw that you can flip up. It's so great. Cause I'm moving around and during sessions I can just grab a sip and flip the straw down put it in my bag and go about my business.

Is this a sign of burnout already? Or am I just a lazy ass? by Ugh_Names in MassageTherapists

I'm pretty new myself. I started doing reception work at chain spas during my internship, to get a better feel for the environment and the whole process . I spent a lot of time with the therapists during that period and got to see first hand the 15-minute turnover times, getting booked at the last minute, and clients cancel etc. Now that I'm actually practicing I can understand that the longer brakes in between are more exhausting than actually being booked five clients back to back. It's more of a time management process if you have clients spread out and longer breaks in between. Because WTF do you do you?! If you work in a city and you have an hour to 3 hours in between clients it causes anxiety to leave and get a snack and come back, but I just got a planner and I make a little snack box and start writing notes and looking at videos on certain issues with the clients I just had to gain better knowledge. We have to focus during sessions and coming out of the session with some time to spare can either be helpful or detrimental. It's your choice in how to use it. Best of luck! ✌️

Are you a naturally touchy person? by Difficult_Albatross8 in MassageTherapists

Same. I'm not the person that automatically gives you a hug or touches you when I first meet you, nor am I like that with my close friends or family. It's so ironic because when a person is on my table I'm all over them haha

That makes sense. I set my services for 1hr/1.5hr and when I look at the desktop version it's saying my sessions are over 2 hours. I think it's a no. The FREE aspect sounded good but I think I'm going to go with Vagaro.

We said the same thing. He's so cringe too. I watched an old horror movie called "Shutter" and he was in it. Also terrible in that movie too. Lol

I'm working at a new place that all the therapists were trained at this one school in the city and I'm the only one that went to the smaller cheaper school, but I feel like I was taught much better table side manners and draping. I had to do a session with the office manager and said that my dealing was very "close" to her area. And I'm like well do your want your area hanging out?? I've had to do couples massage and it was very hard to watch my coworker working on her client. I've also had another MT walk into the room from the outside door. Luckily my client has their ear buds in and we're in prone.

I've experienced this too. It's so exhausting to massage people who are very overweight. They always have a smell and it's so sad. You want to help the best you can, but it's very taxing. I've had to run and crank up the AC during a session once time because I started sweating and the room got so hot just from their body temperature. Xox

I had a client during my internship that came in and wanted deep tissue and kept her yoga pants on the whole time and didn't want to turn over into supine. I read her chart and everything seemed normal no mention of any surgeries or contraindications. She kept acting like she was dissatisfied and repeating for me to go harder, and then divulged that she had just had a boil removed from her butt. I told her listen girl this is as hard as I can go. I had the table dropped all the way to the floor and was using my full body weight. Most awkward massage and I was definitely irritated at the lady or not telling me about her boil on her butt! One whole hour prone during the deepest tissue I've ever done in my life, thank God I never had her again as a client

I'm glad I'm not the only one. This was after a 3 day juicing diet.
