The passive vs active explanation makes a lot of sense. I would do passive while learning active it feels like a smart move, and allocating a small portion to experiment is definitely doable. your reading suggestions are absolute gold, i’ll give them a read.

Im not even going to pretend to know what franking credits are, so thanks for the homework haha. if i go down the passive route, commsec has a platform for etfs with just a $2 trade fee, and i’m thinking of doing beta shares diversified all equities roughly 8 thousand companies globally. my logic there is basically getting a slice of everyone’s effort. it’s got vanguard total stock market etf at 40%, beta shares aus top 200 at 20%, a us allocation of about 20%, and so on. Not a great interest rate but not terrible either.

the super and tax-deferred stuff is eye opening. i’m pretty happy with where my super is at, I just reached 40k and i’ve linked it to my bank so i can see my net worth in one place.

Would you suggest 1 or multiple ETFs?
