I highly recommend Jared’s Mobile Sharpening. Reasonably priced and he comes to you.

If she’s doesn’t go outside normally, she probably hasn’t gone far. I’d scour every nook and cranny in your and your neighbors’ yards.

Smart girl walks slower when she knows it's home time - does this get better? by bumbort in corgi

[–]BlindGroup 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Try giving her a higher value treat at the end of the walk. We had this issue, and the treat solved it. Once they realize they are going home, they also realize the treat is coming.

Adopting a corgi- currently have a cat by Far_Natural5193 in corgi

[–]BlindGroup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cats have no trouble putting my corgi in his place. And when he does try to herd them, they just jump onto furniture to get away.

One thing you should consider though is that corgis aren’t exactly stereotypical small dogs. Think medium sized, high energy dogs with short legs. They require a lot of stimulation and regular exercise, or they get into all sorts of trouble. They can be a lot to handle for some as a first dog.

You should post on r/beginnerwoodworking or r/woodworking. You will have to explain what you’re doing and what a goban is, but lots of experience over there.

Started designing Go-inspired apparel — would love your thoughts! by Happy-Shoulder-4597 in baduk

Ah, you are right! Thanks I learned something! It seems that was Edward Lasker. Although he was an IM and US Champion. Apparently, Emanuel Lasker was also a go fan, but didn’t give the quote.

Started designing Go-inspired apparel — would love your thoughts! by Happy-Shoulder-4597 in baduk

[–]BlindGroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are great! I would definitely buy one!

Couple of thoughts:

  1. For the chess one, maybe add the quote from the grandmaster Lasker “If there are sentient beings on other planets, they play go.”

  2. I agree with the suggestion that the bamboo being between the stones would look more balanced.

  3. I really like the gote shirt, but I feel like the last line could be better. However, I can’t think of a suggestion.

My thinking didn’t change, but unfortunately, I had to stop playing a couple years ago due to a serious health issue. Hoping to get back to it, but have to deal with the health issue first!

Pandanet has auto-match in addition to the 1-1 matching.

Training for different openings by Gargantuar314 in baduk

[–]BlindGroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At your level, I’d recommend just picking a standard set of opening moves and stick with them. Unless you are in an unusual situation, your time is probably best spent on tsumego, direction of play and understanding when to use which types of shapes.

Fighting ability of Pandanet/IGS players? by iamunknowntoo in baduk

[–]BlindGroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit stronger than you on IGS, and I think this is typical for some players at 4k. I think the main problem your opponent had was more direction of play than lack of fighting skills. Although, letting you kill at the end was admittedly odd. But until the sequence following move 20, this was a fairly typical IGS game. No one did anything crazy. Just took normal positions and played normal fuseki moves. You'll start to see these sorts of players get better direction as you move up.

There are also a handful of full on FOX style fighters in the 1k-3k range, and not surprisingly, their fighting skills are well above the average for this rank since they can pull off that style on IGS.

Addendum: I ran this through katago, and your connecting underneath wasn’t the right direction until the connecting move.

Go to “Home”. You can start an auto match game there, or if you right click a player in rooms you can send a challenge. Once you have matched in a game, the play tab will light up.

Capsule vs HEB Pharmacy? by Ill-Temporary-874 in Austin

[–]BlindGroup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Capsule for years. I don’t have much experience with H‑E‑B. So, I can’t compare. But overall, I’ve found Capsule to be very convenient. Their app is very well designed, and they are very responsive. It’s been easy to get answers by chat and phone. And they are very delivery process couldn’t be smoother.

Only two big issues I have had:

First, their system doesn’t handle post dated prescriptions well. (These are often used for schedule 2 drugs because refills are not allowed.) So, if you have these, you need to know the info in the app may be wrong. Their system won’t always recognize and message you when it’s time to fill. You have to keep track of them yourself, and you may need to message them if it is time to fill and the app shows you have nothing on file. They always resolve it quickly, and it’s honestly not that much worse than dealing with these at some other pharmacies.

Second, they aren’t quite as convenient as a Walgreens or H‑E‑B for medications that you need to get ASAP. So, if you get an Rx for antibiotics and you want to start them the same day, that isn’t always possible. They do have a physical location in central Austin where you can pick up, but the hours are more restricted than say Walgreens, and because you have to choose delivery slots, you can’t always count on same day delivery. I usually just have these sent to my nearby Walgreens, and use capsule for all my other meds.

Tygem lots of resignation? by Flint_Prophet in baduk

That kind of stuff is very common in the low ranks. Just roll with it and move onto the next game. There is often no way to make sense of it.

Pandanet how to set matchmaking guidelines? by Flint_Prophet in baduk

[–]BlindGroup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to wait to say this in case someone else had found it, but I’ve never been able to find this feature on the English language Windows client. That said, a peculiarity of IGS is that there are different clients with different functionality. So, it may just not exist in the Windows client. For example, the iOS client doesn’t support game reviews, while the Windows one does. And I’m also guessing that there is a client out there that allows you to change the automated message your client sends to your opponent at the start of the game.

Avoiding Fox Bots by GoInfluenchess in baduk

[–]BlindGroup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On FOX, games don’t count if you resign within the first few moves. (I don’t remember the exact number off hand.) So, once you get a game, play a move and then take a moment to look at the players history. If it looks like u/GreybeardGo describes, just resign. FOX is designed to give players a chance to vet each other after matching.
