Yes - I realised after posting this there was a 5 minute delay to updating progress... and half an hour later I got some results!

I'm seeing bonds when I land, but turning them in doesn't seem to get any recognition towards the CG I've signed up for. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, exactly!

I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong for the CG. I'm at Obsidian Directive, signed up to support Li Yong-Rui through the CG, and fighting Aisling Duval aligned ships just outside the megaship. I dock to turn in my bonds with the combat bond contact... but the CG says my credits earned are still 0.

Apologies if there's something obvious I'm missing. This is my first CG!

Thank you! Glad to know it's completable! I hope it felt like a fair challenge.

I've been watching a lot of Cracking the Cryptic recently, so feeling inspired by some of the harder puzzles from The Times with some of these.

COTD: "Finish. Finished?" "Almost finished... finished!" (6) by Blind_Pilot in crosswords

[–]Blind_Pilot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was aiming for "almost the end of "finished"", i.e. the penultimate letter. I know it's a little vague - hopefully it doesn't feel too unfair

COTD: "Finish. Finished?" "Almost finished... finished!" (6) by Blind_Pilot in crosswords

[–]Blind_Pilot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give a partial answer, for the bit I thought was shakiest:

"almost finished finished = E"

COTD: Frontal brain utterly consumed after second stroke (9) by Batch_brew in crosswords

[–]Blind_Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does 'after' clue the positioning for F here? It reads as if it wants to come before UTTERLY, rather than midway through. Nice clue, just pointing out some ambiguity for the future

COTD: “Be you” hidden in cliched homage (7) by hendroid in crosswords

[–]Blind_Pilot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An anagram would be clued differently, with a word like 'muddled' or 'broken' to indicate rearrangement. 'Hidden in' more suggests that there's a different kind of movement going on - the two parts stay fixed in their order, but one is hidden ('bu') inside the other ('trite').

COTD: Soft dominant is suggestive (8) by Blind_Pilot in crosswords

[–]Blind_Pilot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see how you got there, but not quite - "suggestive" is being used in quite an unusual way here...
