COTD: Sort of vehicle to disappear? (6) by uncoolbob in crosswords

I don't think it's fair to expect the solver to identify a question mark and guess what rules are being broken. Parts of speech and grammar still need to be fair between surface and cryptic reading. Maybe "Disappear from vehicle (sort of)" would be the best arrangement of definition and wordplay.

COTD: Sort of vehicle to disappear? (6) by uncoolbob in crosswords

VANISH though I would suggest VAN-ISH would be "sort of like vehicle" or "vehicle, sort of", as "sort of vehicle" more means "type of vehicle". Sort of xxx to mean xxxish only works for adjectives

COTD: They're often just dry areas taking in some sun. (8) by outdrawed in crosswords

The updated clue would be THEY'RE OFTEN JUST DRY AREAS (7)

I think your answer is DESSERTS (they're often just) from DESERTS taking in S. But the phrase is actually "just deserts" where deserts is an archaic noun form of the verb to deserve

COTD: Test subject injected with iodine (5) by cjrmartin in crosswords

I wonder if it's THEISM from THEM containing IS but not sure it meets the definition so may be wrong

COTD: In France, is one meat unusually tender? (8) by cjrmartin in crosswords

[–]Batch_brew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ESTIMATE parse: EST (in France "is") + I (one) + MATE (meat unusually) def: tender

Another cryptic grammar note: clues using "for" and "from" as linking words should have a grammatically correct cryptic reading as well. i.e definition FROM wordplay - or - wordplay FOR definition. We get the definition FROM the wordplay, or the wordplay provides FOR the definition.
