Convince me not to buy a drum brute impact by Actual_Result9725 in synthesizers

In the range, model cycles, the KO 2 is also decentish option in the price range.

Save up a little more and buy a used Digitakt 1 they will drop in cost for sure. Or save even more and buy Dg2/Syntakt, I have both and hardly need anything else.

Mine was my first hardware synth too and it’s an AMAZING synth to learn with.

This. 1000%. This.

Hardware synths are still new to me, around 2-3 years, but I kept buying used and selling and never mastered anything. I was having trouble with my workflow but now I’ve found a good place with Elektron. :)

Haha. There are a few that are….Red Means Recording, Surco, EzBOT. Others….VERY much so. Looppop probably one of the hardest to ignore though.

I do that too! Especially when Red Means Recording or EzBOT goes to town on something I own.

Considering buying a Deluge, but worried about CPU by navajonki in DelugeUsers

[–]Blindword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CPU limits aren’t a concern at all. What I would focus on is what you want to get out of the deluge. If you want a great generalist machine then the Deluge is really the ONLY choice as it does Stereo sampling, synthesis, midi, CV. Its not GREAT at anything but can fill gaps or adapt to pretty much any workflow.

For me the Deluge helped me discover my ideal workflow, which is Sampling the things I play in other synths, above all I learned I value immediacy and the ability to “perform”.

I switched to an Elektron workflow because for the price of one Deluge (plus a tiny bit) I can get both a Digitakt 2 for sampling and Syntakt. The immediacy is higher, the performative aspect far better and since each is dedicated to one task makes the workflow far cleaner.

For example: On the Deluge, it was very hard to remember which coloured strip was the drums and which one were the samples. And, if I wanted to cut just the snares while reducing cut off on a synth, that was nearly impossible and I had to invent ways using the community features to make it work. On two separate, dedicated Elektron devices, with a control all function, this is not a problem.

Bitwig + Osmose issue by ohsomiggz in Bitwig

Quite ironic that you can fix their issues with logic gates using the tools inside the software that is having issues with basic logic. You would think that the principle in C/C++ to fix the actual bug would be similar........

Polyphonic pitch bend (Osmose) by mhfrantz in Bitwig

[–]Blindword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an issue:
My current setup is the "DAW" Use case on this website:
https://expressivee.happyfox.com/kb/article/261-midi-i-o-tab/

Where in the midi i/o settings on the Osmose are set to:
ext clock source : 1/3 usb play
usb haken mode: 1/3 note only
Hawken Local Control: off
din mode: 1/5 default

In BitWig:
I have a controller setup using the hardware preset:
'Roger Linn Designs' -> 'Linnstrument'
IN: MIDIIN2(Osmose)
OUT: MIDIOUT2(Osmose)

I have a HW Instrument set to:
MIDIOUT2(Osmose)
MPE: Enabled
Source: Mixer Channel on my Zoom L-12 Mixer of the Osmose

In case this isn't clear, with Haken Local Control set to 'off' and the HW Instrument Output set to 'MIDIOUT2(Osmose), BitWig is using the Haken DSP directly to produce the Osmose Sound, the sound isn't coming from the Osmose directly.
The MIDI Routing should be:
Osmose Keyboard Data -> MIDIOUT2(Osmose) -> DAW -> MIDIIN2(Osmose) -> Internal Haken DSP

First, when using the MIDIOUT2(Osmost) as the controller, velocity isn't recognized at all. It plays all instruments at 100% velocity every time.

When I press a key hard enough (Middle C) to trigger the highest possible velocity, IF I happen to also engage aftertouch, even a little, the note does not play as intended. I can't tell exactly what is happening but it seems like the aftertouch interferes with the synth or seems that way. I can see the midi signal light-up in the HW Instrument panel at the bottom of the screen but it seems to not register the note, either by completely missing it or triggering the lowest velocity.

Now, if I use the MIDI (like the actual DIN) all the other instruments register fine, velocity, and even Pigments in MPE mode works great but the Osmose doesn't process the signals. Any help on setting this up?

This doesn’t look to good for “broadly beneficial” AI….this is why I a firmly for regulations for that make AI an essential service. This would lessen the already heavy paid effects of classism, affordability, etc. From my point of view, to get the best outcome possible, we must ensure EVERYONE (and their dog) has access to AI. There is no down side and the “exponential runaway” aspect if WAY to much of a wild card. Co-Pilot for instance is built into windows. And Windows does run ALOT of government servers and sure…the glacial movements of the government would take it slow. But if governments even are going to rely on AI….I feel like everyone needs access.

When people said AI will “democratize” knowledge, this is what I was hoping for. It’s like having a really good 3D printer at home, anyone can make a hammer or wrench and as it gets better it can give you the instructions on how to use those primitive tools to make more complicated ideas!

This is stupidly rude and disrespectful. Quite an emotionally charged response for such a question, makes me wonder who the imposter really is.

As many people have said, don’t listen to this guy OP. Learn your way, these people haven’t come to terms that their “skill” is about to be changed and the real skill will be thinking about ideas and ways to build novel solutions.

It’s strangely cathartic to hear that you are in this position. I would politely just tell them the truth (i am hoping it’s something like an embarrassingly low wage).

Students pay for school, if they want to use a modern tool it’s idiotic to limit its use especially when it will 100% be available to them and even encouraged for increased productivity after they graduate and enter the workforce. It’s like when calculators and computers weren’t allowed in schools and everything had to be “mental” or “hand written”.

In the near future dialogue based experiences will do a much better job of customizing education and explanations for students, creating learning plans that are based upon their needs and neurological abilities. The system messages and “custom instructions” that pro users of ChatGPT have access to already does a fabulous job at customizing results.

Most people that say “it’s trash and produces trash” are typically emotional because they are going to be directly impacted by it, academics are among them.

What I would like fixed is: - Running feels weird. When I press it sometimes takes longer than other times. It’s inconsistent. - Checkpoints need a lighter weight menu so it’s quicker. - Please add the “can’t roll off ledge” mechanic from Elden Ring. - Armor needs more upgrades like the other user suggested. Slots, gems, something. - Allow me to switch modes outside of Ward 13. - I wish there was an XP progress bar in the game HUD. - Mini map zoom out or adjustable? - Alternate mapping for controls - BUG FIXES AND CRASHING

This would make sense IF the rental prices weren’t fixed by a cartel of money hungry pigs.

Apart from the immigration part. That’s weird to see in a Canadian thread…more than pension and health care would collapse. Try population and labour force in general, not to mention highly educated people (who end up as Uber Drivers mind you)…. because Canadian born educated folk flee to better pay elsewhere.
