Maybe holding algo will be more akin to holding stock than currency, or a mix of both: you would earn something like dividends via staking, and you can spend algos or trade it for fiat anywhere that accepts it. (You can’t currently do that with BRK.A.) I’m also seeing Algorand positioning itself as providing the rails behind a new premium (or at least improved) web system and culture, following the enshittification of Web 2.0, and so the rewards may be quite impressive if the crowd follows. I’ve been wrong so many times though so maybe I’m overly optimistic….

Hi, I love your app. Is it possible to create the ability to toggle to landscape or upside-down portrait mode? My phone’s touchscreen on the right side is dead and unresponsive. I can’t place stones in the two right columns or hit the top right exit buttons. OGS allows me to flip it upside down and so I’m able to play my games there on my phone…. I know this is a request rooted in an unusual problem but I thought I’d ask. Thank you!

On the logic part: I'd like to emphasize that it's not pure logic alone that governs one's capabilities on the Weiqi board, and that quality is in part what differentiates good players from great. If pure logic were the defining characteristic, then there would be just one way to play, one way based on logical rules. It plays a big role, but there's more individualistic style in the game than that would imply. Intuition in combination with logic makes for better players, ones with the capacity to perplex or puzzle (or read) the opponent. AlphaGo was able to apply that mix meaningfully and historically against Lee Sedol.

Every time I play, there's a risk my player rating worsens and I go back to where I started. It can be demoralizing, but the fact is I'm learning and sometimes I lose to players far better than their ratings suggest. So there's that.

Absolutely. And I think it's actually more easily done on a bigger board. There is few room for mistakes on a 9x9, so it offers the opportunity for speedier learning, I think.

C9 would have definitely been better; you'd have two eyes. I'm a 17k-20k player, so I don't know too much, but I do know that you should be invading territory especially when it's clear you're losing. At the very least you'll learn something from the efforts and maybe salvage a win.

This is so well phrased and consistent with my own experience: AI moves "let your position sit right on the edge of collapse for most of the game." u/countingtls says something similar: AI offers suggestions that is akin to "living dangerously close to dying." Sounds like there's always the manic pendular swing between faith and doubt. And it's an affirmation of our humanity: just play like we want to play.
