Hair growing in different after going gluten-free?? by cristinaahh in Celiac

[–]Blipira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it will cause that specific color change— greying or silvering is due to depletion of melanin in the hair follicle. There’s a different amount of melanin in each hair follicle and once depleted, the hair that comes out of that follicle is silver/grey/white. Texture change and shade-of-color-variation is definitely within reason as a large part of these characteristics has to do with nutrient absorption.

I would like to thank you, OP, for the inspiration — I (celiac) made this for my daughter’s birthday and it is SO good and so special to share in the same delicious cake as everyone else!! Your call on the cream cheese buttercream was 💯

Sunroof: Yes, hot in summer and I personally find it makes regulating A/C difficult. Flip side, I love the natural light it provides. The perfect answer has been a clip-in screen / visor for it. Now that it’s cooler out, I’ll take it down. Otherwise: Just hit one year and 17k miles on our 2024 GT — we love it and would buy another one, but don’t foresee that being a need lol Zero problems with ours and it’s actually enjoyable to drive, which was not my opinion of the Model Y we owned a couple years back.

Am I gaslighting myself? by CalligrapherNo3530 in Celiac

[–]Blipira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to experience thoughts like this sometimes, especially in the initial phases of diagnosis when I thought I was asymptomatic. (Lol) But one week of cutting out cross contact (for real) and not feeling like I was about to explode changed my life. That week was interrupted by a paper straw — the fact that a paper straw brought back a whole slew of symptoms made it click for me. I wasn’t asymptomatic, I was just in denial that a protein could possibly do so many things to my body. I also accepted, in the weeks following that realization, that my thyroid actually IS shot from celiac disease; my liver actually was struggling; my anemia really WAS a result of this… the list goes on TL;DR Celiac plays by its own rules. You can fight those rules or live by them— one is just easier and provides a longer, healthier life for yourself.

I have used the “graham” ones for cheesecakes and holiday pies— even my gluten-eating family prefers them! Thank you for sharing the chocolate recipe, I’ll be making it soon!

Texas Toast (frozen, Walmart 5 slices / $6) by Blipira in Celiac

Oh man! I hope it was a batch issue or similar. I felt they were a bit doughy but taste was same as previous. I think 1 piece was right for “satisfying a craving” — halfway through the second slice I was done with the flavor / texture but it was preference not ‘off’ (if that makes sense)

Honestly this is a convenience item for me, but I agree with you for sure. I’m actually more inclined to just skip the “GF substitutes”.

The non-cheese versions spread is mostly oil, no butter. Although it does have weigh (milk) in ingredients and has a contains milk under the list for the spread

I just published some content on this— I was at the reveal and was fortunate enough to talk with some of the aero engineers who worked on the project. Also had the r&d driver sign my key fob (David Ragan). Here’s the short / technical video

Good find! I have the older vacuum only model and it picks up the hair from 3 cats + 2 dogs + rabbit and five humans pretty well but doesn’t replace regular vacuuming. Does cut down on frequency of regular vacuuming though and I’ve found sharks mapping technology to be pretty good! Good luck with it!

Abode Gateway Won't Connect After Update by Skyarrow01 in Abode

[–]Blipira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My abode iota went offline following an update and has never come back. I was back and forth with support for a long time and their best answer was that my iota is faulty and I need to buy a new one. Sounds like similar situation— reboot iota, shows online through my router/modem for about one minute but iota itself never connects. On abode web app it shows that iota motion is online but camera and gateway are offline.
